Easy to use and free, as well, this simple feed reader puts the top news and blog headlines right at your fingertips. TechTray is aptly named, as it comes preloaded with 16 feeds from top sites like Wired and Engadget and sits in your system tray.
Right-click to view the list of available feeds, then merely pick one to see the headlines. You just click on the headline to read the article as the page opens in your default browser. You can add feeds, but you'll have to first register at TechTray's site. The free registration also allows you to create keyword searches for news items, a real plus if you're interested in particular topics. We really liked the one-click method to save an article in your easily accessible favorites menu. In addition to tech news sites, the reader also subscribes to YouTube's Top Favorite videos. Thrown in is a function to access select Windows components, but it really isn't a time saver over the usual selection methods.
We loved the simplicity of TechTray. It doesn't suffer from the unwanted complexity of some feed readers, and makes it very easy for any news junkie to stay on top of the latest headlines.
