This geeky utility provides a GUI version of the venerable tail command, which displays files--especially log files--from the bottom up. Windows logs events for select services, file changes, application execution, and error messages. These log files can help debug problem applications. Tail XP displays logs and other files in a simple, dockable display. Right-clicking Tail XP's main window opens user-configurable options, including ones for selecting files to monitor. The program makes it easy to set filtering rules using regular expressions. Unfortunately for novices, it doesn't provide filtering rule samples nor a help file or usage tips. Novices should study Windows log-file information elsewhere and come back to this helpful tool. Advanced home users and network administrators will find this freeware program's log window unobtrusive but packed with information.Publisher's description

Version: Tail XP 1.3.1.12
"Works ok but rearranges your desktop"
Pros: Software does what it says. It lets you run a dynamic tail of one (1) file.
Cons: However the program locks itself to one side of your desktop and moves all of your icons and other windows around every time you move or change Tail XP's size or location. If you have spent time putting your icons in certain places on your screen, then do NOT run this software as it'll rearrange them, immediately when you run it, without notice.
If you have a multi-monitor environment, Tail XP only loads on the primary display and won't let you move it anywhere else.
I personally don't like any software that messes with my desktop hence my relatively low score. Would you like it if someone walked into your house and shoved everything on your desk to one side so they could put something down there?
