Don't like Firefox's close button on each tab? Miss the multiple rows of tabs when they exceed the width of your screen? This kick-butt Firefox extension makes tabbed browsing even better than it already is. Tab Mix Plus can change those settings and almost everything else associated with tabs. Use your scroll wheel to browse tabs, or control tab switching via mouse gestures. You can specify where Web pages will open--in the background or the foreground, in a new tab or the current one--based on how they were created: by clicking a link, typing an address, or using the search bar.
You can duplicate a tab, protect it from closing, or merge tabs from several windows. We also like the option that prevents those annoying blank tabs when you download files. Another useful feature is a session manager that restores tabs that were open the last time the browser shut down. We'd like to see an option to view tabs as thumbnails, but nevertheless there's something here for every Firefox user--don't browse without it.

Tab Mix Plus gives you tons of options for setting up the way tabs look on Firefox.
Cons
The fact that there are tons of options can and does confuse a lot of folks...... many to the point of abandoning it and looking for something simpler.
Summary
If you take your time and read the Tab Mix Plus user manual first (http://tmp.garyr.net/help/#Events_-_Tab_Opening) it makes setup so much easier. This is an extension where you have to play around with it some to know how to tweak it to your liking. I'm glad I stayed with it. My tabs now look and work just the way I want them to. Tab Mix Plus is a GREAT add-on!

I update to the next version of Firefox when Tab Mix Plus is available; it's that important. Unlike IE and bare naked Firefox, Tab Mix Plus with FF always lets me choose a starting point of sessions, while allowing me to change my mind w/o penalty.
Cons
Sometimes slow to ready for a new upgrade of Firefox, but a build is sometimes available at the author web site.

The reload Command is great. There are several sites that I reload every 10 minutes.

Summary
As far as I'm concerned, this is THE MOST USEFUL add-on. I sure hope they have an update for Firefox 3.5 soon.
A day later: I just found that the MENU key at the bottom of my keyboard brings up the "Reload Every" feature from Tab Mix Plus, even though I've installed Firefox 3.5. That's great. I thought I would have to do without.
