CNET Editors' review
As with any machine, your PC needs regular tune-ups to maintain peak performance. This virtual toolbox can enhance the speed, safety, and power of your computer with a wide range of functions and an extensive help system.
System Mechanic performs cleanup, optimization, and privacy protection with equal agility. As with similar tune-up utilities, it enables you to clean up your registry, remove junk files, and customize hidden settings to improve performance. The app has additional tools for removing spyware and for defragmenting your hard drive, eliminating the need for multiple utility programs. There is an undo function that restores your system to its previous state, but its hidden in the SafetyNet tab and doesn't allow you to bring back one item at a time. The program also lacks a system profiler.
The bottom line, however, is that System Mechanic is one of the most complete, effective, and easy-to-use tune-up utilities we've seen to date.

"Sytem Mechanic has fixed mutible problems for my PC !"
Version: System Mechanic 7.1.10
Pros
Ease of use is always a plus . I find it to be sdafe when doing any registry changes
Cons
Some of the suggested fixes will keep appearing over and over again ? Even after you approved the fix !
Summary
From searching the internet ,it appears that many think there are other utilities that work better . However I feel where System Mechanic out does its competition is that when you purchase the produt you get a couple of dozen plus utilities all bundled up into one application !

"It Saved my computer from crashing again"
Version: System Mechanic 7.1.10
Pros
This program is easy to use, it tells you exactly what your problems are and fixes them with one touch button features. You can auto fix problems and run a actual scheduled maintaince. I bought the program from a store instead of offline, it was the best purchase I ever made. I click on the icon everyday and it will tell me what shape my computer is in and what shape my security level is in. It will defrag your drives and memory.
Cons
Ther are a couple of clitches I ran across but found a way around one so far. When you try to repair to many files and memory defrag at the same time, my computer did lock up and slowed down as "very poor" said in his review. So I found repairing your short cuts and registry problems first, then you go back and use memory defrag by itself, it works just fine. However after using memory defrag, it does take some time after clicking internet explorer icon before your internet home site appears, but there is a window in registry mechanic that comes up warning you of this because your computer has to find the Internet Explorer cookie again. For some people who have a small capacity computer, this process may take as much as 15 minutes. This also will not get arid of internet clutter, you still have to go into control panel and into performance and maintenace to clean your internet files, if not you may still have problems surfing on the internet, but your computer will be fine.

"Very Poor"
Version: System Mechanic 7.1.10
Cons
I made the mistake of trusting CNET's editor review on System Mechanic 7, CNET gave it 5 stars. Downloaded trial version, it wasn't a full version and didn't do much, so I bought / registered the full version. During the installation process, it tells you is to uninstall / remove all your current spyware and antivirus programs. After System Mechanic repaired all the problems it found my system was so slow that it barely worked, then it stopped booting up all together. I tried getting help from their support department, they never even replied. Tried getting a refund, they said, "all sales are final, no refunds because we offer trial software". If you like your computer and don't want to go through a huge problem, stay away from this.

"Excellent."
Version: System Mechanic 7.1.10
Pros
It checks your system very well, finds the problem and fix them.
-
"Older version was better."
Version: System Mechanic 7.1.10
Pros
It still does somewhat of what it did before.
Cons
I used to have the version 6 of this program and I still do on a seperate disc. I saved it and I'm glad I did because this new version is terrible. I tried it out a while ago and it freezes on me more than it actually cleans anything. Especially in the beginning when it's doing those tiny short scans. The GUI is a little too much. I think people nowadays prefer something simple.

"Ruined my internet explorer + system files"
Version: System Mechanic 7.1.10
Cons
After having removed the software, internet explorer security settings (cookies)are permanently on the lowest setting ( due to "fast browsing option in S.M.") which gives my oc loads of virus etc.
I try to change the setting back to default ( both in internet settings and via control panel) but every time a new browser windows is opened, the S.M. program has changed something in the registry that sets it on "allow all cookies" and has security on zero !
Also a setting when cleaning up windows system will not enable again after having been disabled via the program. The function goes dead. So now there is a wrong setting in my windows systems files that cannot be rescued.

"Great!"
Version: System Mechanic 7.1.10
Pros
I have one program for spy ware, one for registry, one for cleaning clutter...etc
This one does it all.
Cons
I did have a problem when I used them all back to back. (registry mechanic, spyware doctor' & tune up utilities....They cleaned up each other. (my Bad!)
