This system maintenance program gives you all the tools for ridding your computer of clutter and problematic files. Normally, we'd write off a program that only offers a measly 3-day trial period, but we were left impressed after experiencing its fully functional trial.
System Mechanic Professional has a very professional, intuitive user interface. We were able to jump right in and the process required us merely to click the Scan button to find any problems. The program very quickly recognized several registry, memory, and startup issues with our system. We liked that the program gave us the option of viewing and manually selecting the problems we wanted to fix before proceeding. A wizard is offered with almost every repair to walk you through the process. We half expected to receive a trial limitation message preventing us from fixing all of the found problems, but that proved not to be the case. Our registry and memory errors were removed, and our memory was optimized. The program offers its own Internet security options, but it worked well with the antivirus and firewall programs we already had installed on our computer.
A built-in Help feature is available should you need it. Updates are available for immediate download, but other than extending the trial period, we can't think of any changes we'd make to the program. Novice users should beware of any program that alters your registry, but more experienced users will appreciate this comprehensive optimization program.

Version 10.8 deleted my windows installer and my restore points. I put this on two machines that I use for work and now I am screwed. The company has not been able to come up with a repair that works other than to reformat. I did receive a rapid response from the email technicians, although the solution did not work. I called the customer support and that was useless because they talk in circles and kept repeating the same thing, as if I were deaf. I expected them to at least offer a refund....Don't hold your breath!

How can there be any Pros when it makes your PC useless? It's like asking "Aside from that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"

I installed the product from a version 8.5 which then did an automatic update to the current version. I ran a scan and fix and supposedly everything was fixed. Shortly thereafter I get a msg in the lower right corner of my desktop that I'm running an illegal copy of Win 7. The software is legal. It is a HP P6230y 64 bit bought from Best Buy. I did another scan and fix. The product said it had to do a reboot in order to fix some of the issues it encountered. I let it reboot. When it tried to come back up I didn't get any POST msg just a blank screen with a blinking pointer. All subsequent reboots do the same. It will not boot from a bootable DVD. I'm trying to work with iolo support but they can't understand that their product has made my PC unbootable.
Summary
This software has destroyed my operating system. Iolo support has been useless so far.

I run Windows Vista on my PC and have System Mechanic Professional installed. Recently my Windows Installer became corrupted and will no longer install programs or updates. In checking with Microsoft technical support, when I told them that I use System Mechanic I was immediately informed that this product is known to corrupt the registry during it's compacting process. When I informed IOLO of the problem their technical support did not deny the problem but refused to take responsibility and repair the problem.

Ever since I have discovered System Mechanic Pro, and have been using it, my computers have never run so smoothly and up to full speed. It is a hassle to have to stop and clear clutter all the time and SMP does it all for me. Having to rely on my computer so heavily as I run a radio station peak performance is of the utmost and without SMP I could not do it as easily and effectively as I do with this program. A deep system repair runs through the night when auto play is on and when I come in, in the morning, my computers are all up and ready to go at peak performance, all while I sleep peacefully knowing theat System Mechanic Pro is at work. Thanks to a great program and everyone should take a serious look at this product for top performance from their computer at all times. Blessings. "A Product that does good things"

This product is a good thing. It doesn't necessarily improve computer 300% like they said, but my computer did increase in speed. Most registry cleaners are snake oil, they do more harm than good. However, this product cleans certain errors that do NOT do harm.
Cons
This product decreases speed if not optimize.

After purchasing this product because of a recommendation from a Dell Service Technician, I have been using it for about a year and have been blown away by how fast my computer is working. It went from being 5 minutes from my trashcan to feeling like it was just 5 minutes out of the box! I could not be happier with the wide range of functions that this product offers and the simplicity with which it allows me to execute them. I am happy to say I am about to buy a new subscription for another year of excellent service!
Cons
None that have affected me, but if you are impatient the deep scans can be slow, and you cannot cancel them.

"Bware - This product may destroy your registry"

Pros
In general the product is well packaged and runs quickly. On simple tasks it's good and it's good for people that don't want to really understand their computer. At least that's what you'd think.
Cons
The product destroyed my registry by deleting several records. Most noted is that it deleted the license file information needed to use bluetooth. Removing and reinstalling the driver separately has been unable to repair this.
Their tech support is absolutely horrible. Replies take days and in the end they recommended a Windows repair. Good bye and have a nice life.
In addition, they then unilaterally closed the case so it wouldn't be outstanding.Summary
Don't use parts of this product unless you're willing to risk how your computer works. Being easy to use doesn't matter if it's dangerous. Their support is absolutely awful.
I'll be sticking with Norton/Symantec from now on. I've never had a problem with their products.
