CNET Editors' review
This robust freeware displays system activity with more detail than with many expensive programs. System Explorer's tight multitabbed dialog-box-size interface logically arranges and displays more information than most experienced users would need. The program could use an extensive Help manual, but instead relies on expert user knowledge.
Operating System Explorer is primarily point-and-click. On start, the app loads all information it collects. Fourteen tabs logically spread the info into manageable portions. With a click, users can monitor tasks, processes, performance, history, windows, connections, and opened files. Each tab includes detailed information about the items included. Many details listed are easily investigated with right-click access to find information online at sites like Google and ProcessLibrary. Such investigation is limited by the depth of information available at the Web sites.
In addition to the monitoring tools, System Explorer offers single-click access to numerous Windows tools. Disk defragmenter, computer, group policy, services, and task management aren't part of the application, but are made much easier to reach.
System Explorer is freeware, but leaves nothing out for a program in this genre. This fast application is sure to become an important part of any expert user's toolbox.
Publisher's Description
From Mister Group:
System Explorer is an analyzing tool lets you see what's happening in your system, from currently active processes to installed drivers, including also network collections, startup applications and Internet Explorer add-ons, if you have any. You can end any active process or delete items from the startup menu, to name a couple of examples. System Explorer has the possibility to obtain more information about each process from Google, or check it for virus with an online anti-virus tool.

"The Perfect Task Manager!"
Version: System Explorer 4.0
Pros
I was looking for a task manager which gives detailed information about my system and easy to use. And that is what System Explorer is.

"See the Windows guts."
Version: System Explorer 3.8.6

The icon-tray graph of CPU performance is invaluable to determining what's going on with those "slow-downs" we run into. Can take the place of the Task Manager. Easy to use and frequently updated. And it's free.
Cons

Summary
Worth every second of installation and updating (which are fast).

"Excellent, very powerful and robust set of utilities"
Version: System Explorer 3.8.4
Pros
Covers a lot of areas better than most utility packages' "paided upgrade" versions. And covers more.
Cons
Documentation a bit brief; interface a bit complex, but forgivable in such a robust package
Summary
Highly recommended for anyone just above novice to full blown experts. A great resource, and a nice upgrade for the built-in Task Manager program.

Version: System Explorer 3.2.2
Pros
Easy to install & use. Love the quick access facilities to system utilities - especially shutdown / sleep functions.

There is no way to pin the summary information onto the desktop so you can use it as a constant monitor of tasks & processes.
