Publisher's description of Super States
In this software educational game, the locations of the 48 contiguous states are taught in an interactive fashion. The user drags each state with the mouse to its proper location, using a jigsaw-puzzle metaphor. Identifying the state is also part of the fun. The state's capital is also displayed and the use of sound-effects and graphics is integral to the program.

This educational jigsaw puzzle game aims to familiarize kids with the location of the different states of America, but the trial version has its limits. Super States' interface displays a map of the United States and a few old-fashioned buttons for controlling the program. You simply drag and drop pieces to the exact location on the puzzle board, and then click the name of the state from a multiple-choice question.
However, the program is not completely aligned with the current U.S. map, since it features only the 48 contiguous states and not Hawaii and Alaska. Super States modified the screen resolution during our initial test and rearranged desktop icons during subsequent trials. Unfortunately, you only get to locate nine puzzle pieces during the trial before a nag screen prompts you to register the game. All things considered, it's not difficult to find more up-to-date software that will entertain and teach your kids about the map of the United States of America.
