Version: StorageCrypt 2.0
"Very good. IF USED VERY CAREFULLY"
Pros: Encrypts drives very quickly. Would be a great program if some more work was put into it.
Cons: The program does not read or record drive letters. Consequently, where there is more than one external drive, both you and the program can become confused as to which is which. This can lead to loss of data.(I speak from experience) GREAT CARE must be taken when using this program

Version: StorageCrypt 2.0
"Sorry, but this product does not encrypt data."
Pros: Extremely fast. Gives the appearance of locking drives. Unable to read drive without 'decrypting it' if you boot into safe mode or connect the drive to another computer. This includes the flash drives. The reviewer who says 'Don't use it' (Mic-Kwan) indicated the error message he got and subsequent lost data. I got the same message one time, but realized I had entered the wrong password. When I entered the correct password, I was able to access all my data.
Cons: This only gives the appearance of encrypting the drive. What a let down. And with AES-128 encryption. I really expected this program to work because I use AES-128 and AES-256 encryption with other programs. AES encryption is the STANDARD today. I ran two tests on two drives. I copied 10 files (jpg, bmp, txt, asf, odt and exe) to an 8-gig hard drive, and the same files to a 128-meg flash drive. I encrypted both drives per the program. Voila! Both drives appeared to be locked and encrypted. Then, all I had to do was run a simple Format on both drives. Next, I used recovery software (demo versions easily obtained from the net) (Recover My Files, r-studio, etc.) and ran a recovery on the disks using the default settings. Six out of 10 files were recovered intact on both drives. None of this data was encrypted and was fully recovered. Next, I securely erased the Flash drive again and copied 10 jpg pictures to it. After 'encrypting' the flash drive again, and then formatting it, I was able to recover 9 of the 10 pictures intact. None of this recovered data was encrypted. If anything is encrypted, it may be the FAT tables. But the data is intact.
I really did like this program at first. Planned to use it on my Flash drive that I keep all my Email on. If I ever lose the Flash Drive, I would like to know that the data is secure. With this program, it is not.
Bottom line...This program does not seem to 'encrypt' any data. It CAN be recovered...Easily.

Version: StorageCrypt 2.0
"WARNING!!! DONT USE! DO NOT BUY! WARNING!!!"
Cons: Do NOT purchase this software. It does not encrypt your data. It only password protects the file system. When you try to access the drive it makes you believe the drive is not formatted, which would work for young children. Use any file recovery software and there is everything at your fingertips - UNENCRYPTED. DON"T BUY AND GET SCAMMED LIKE I DID. These software designers are scam artists and will not reply to email.

Version: StorageCrypt 2.0
"Not able to DE Crypt - and NO support after buying 5 licenses"
Pros: It's fast
Cons: It apparently DOESN'T actually enctypt the DATA, only the drive letter and FAT.
However, for our use, that would be OK - the chance that someone who found the drive would have the technicial ability to Format the drive and then use a data recovery software to attempt to retreive data is probably pretty low
WHAT BUGS US is Magic Lab's TOTAL lack of support after ALL our installed Storage Crypt programs FAILED to DECRYPT ALL our drives, All at the same time.(this is NOT a bad password problem - that error message is different).
The program also read non-encrypted drives as encrypted - so we can't access them either. Bummer!
The problem occured on all installs ON THE SAME DAY - so it's probably time related in the program - a pretty easy bug to fix - IF WE COULD GET THEM TO REPLY with a possible patch.
The problem occured 18 December 07 and was reported to MagicLab support the same day and the day after - no response. I even emailed their sales team advising them of the problem - no response.
Then, while doing more searches on a possible fix, I discover the MagicLab is in CHINA. Ah, that explains the poor english on the website..... and, possibly, the give a **** attitude we've encountered in helping us fix our now-useless portable backup drives.
BOTTOM LINE: USE ANOTHER PROGRAM - I'VE READ CD-LOCK IS GOOD, and doesn't require you to install the program on the recovery computer...
