"Excellent Webcam capture software"
Pros: 1. recording of webcam video feed (optionally compressed)
2. easy to use GUI
3. ability to check for update is integrated
4. various configuration options for compression level and capture format that all work fine
5. truely FREE - no ads, no limitations
Cons: 1. no snapshot capability
2. cannot capture inbound video stream of your video chat partner
In summary, there is no better Webcam recorder that isn't also for FREE.

Version: Stoik Capturer 1.0
Pros: I have used STOIK for years. Like any video capture software, it has limitations. STOIK has given me good results, but sometime I have had a problem or two. Overall, this works well. I have tried other alternatives but keep coming back to STOIK.

Version: Stoik Capturer 1.0
"Easy to use basic video capture software"
Pros: This program uses up very little disk space on your computer and is comparable to products you would buy. It actually had a better image quality than the $150 software I had purchased!! :(
Cons: Every video I would capture had no sound however, I think this was a problem with my capture card, not the program (hard to tell though). I didn't take this into consideration with my rating. The reason I gave Stoik 3 stars is because it has very limited output formats and does not have a lot of settings that you can change. Also the preview window only worked about half the time. Also, about one hour after I installed this program, my Windows XP crashed. I don't know if it was a result of this program or another problem on my computer, however I instantly unistalled this program after that and I haven't had the problem since. May have just been a fluke.
Overall, I say try it, it worked better than the software I purchased!

Version: Stoik Capturer 1.0
"Easy to use... and solved sync problems Sony nor Intervideo did."
Pros: I've been dealing with an out-of-sync issue when capturing video with my Sony HC42. Even with other 3rd party software like Intervideo I had the same problem. This capturer worked fine as soon as I installed!!!
Cons: The preview capabilities are very limited, don't show a reliable image of the result. I can deal with it :-)

Version: Stoik Capturer 1.0
"Worked perfectly with my USB digital camcorder."
Pros: Finally! a video capture product that is not only free, but so stinkin' simple, a single-celled organism could use it. I have Pinnacle video editing software, but it only takes DV Camcorders (and the USB line-in function did not work). Also I tried Open Video Capture 1.0, but it did not work for me. I'd highly recommend this product.
Cons: The quality is pretty good once you mess w/ the settings, but don't use this if you're going to create an IMAX film.
