Ideal also for those who want to remove adware and spyware from their computer systems. Version 2.1 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Though this application allows you to view and control start-up programs, it does little else. Using a straightforward, treelike structure, Startup Guardian simply lists all programs running at system start-up, categorizing them in the start-up folder, the Registry or Win.ini. While you'll get basic information such as program description, file version, and summary, such information is not available for all programs. To compensate, the application lets you search the Internet for more details. You can disable and enable programs, delete entries, and create desktop shortcuts. Unlike other programs in this category, you won't get any hints as to whether a program is necessary or unnecessary for your system to properly operate. Additionally, it cannot identify a potential spyware or an adware program. We couldn't add new programs to start-up either. While Startup Guardian is simple to use, Windows' MSConfig utility does just as well.
