We like the functionality of this program, which gives you a fine degree of control over the applications that launch at Windows start-up. You can choose which ones start, change the start-up sequence (useful for letting smaller programs launch before the big, slower applications), and set delays between application launches. Though Startup Faster 2004 may cut down your start-up time, the gain isn't dramatic. In our tests, Windows took 10 percent less time to start up. More tinkering may produce better gains and a lot will depend on how many programs you have set to automatically launch. The interface is clear. We like the help tips that appear when you mouse over elements of the interface, and it's convenient to be able to access the properties of a start-up item by right-clicking. If your system launches multiple applications at start-up, this program will help you fine-tune it and may gain you some boot-up speed.Publisher's description
From URSoft :Startup Faster 2004 makes your computer boot faster by launching your start-up applications one at a time rather than attempting to launch them all at once. As you may know, sometimes there are more than 30 programs launched by Windows at the same time, which causes Windows to boot up very slowly. With Startup Faster 2004 you can fully control how quickly programs launch and how they launch. It also includes a start-up manager, so you can take full control of the start-up programs and enable, disable, or permanently delete them.
Version 2.5.5 supports Windows Vista.

Version: Startup Faster 2004 2.5.5
Pros: Attractive interface.
Cons: This application not only did NOT increase my start up time, but it actually slowed my computer way down and created freezes during the start up process. Fortunately, it was a trial version so I wasted no money, only time. I ran this program with Win XP Pro. My computer does not like it! Can not uninstall soon enough!

Version: Startup Faster 2004 2.5.5
"Speeds Startup & Prevents Timing Conflicts"
Pros: Excellent program with advanced features. I needed this program due to timing conflicts. A timing conflict can occur when too many programs run at startup at the same time. Common symptoms include missing program tray icons or some startup programs not loading.
Advanced Features I Like Include:
1) Startup Faster supports command line switches (it imports startup items perfectly). E.g., "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
2) Monitors new startup items and imports them automatically into Startup Faster
3) If a program insists on placing another startup item every time it runs, startup faster will recognize this without duplicating startup items (i.e., it will delete the duplicate).
4) You can restore startup items to their original locations, if needed
5) Startup Faster creates a hidden folder in the Startup Folders to hold the startup items under it's control.
6) Imports startup items from the Startup folders AND the Run sections in the registry.
7) You can change the order that startup items run. By doing this, you can change the order that icons appear in your tray.
8) You can disable or enable individual startup items as needed.
There are many other great features. Give the demo a try (fully functional).
Note: The delay time for each item is the delay before the NEXT item will run (not the delay of THAT item).
Cons: None

Version: Startup Faster 2004 2.5.5
Pros: Was a great help in controlling all my start up programs. I did notice a significant decrease in my boot up time. Interface is very simple. Works as described. Love it.
Cons: Would like it to tell me if the start up program is necessary or not. Other than that - no complaints.

Version: Startup Faster 2004 2.5.5
Pros: I had no issues of it trying to uninstall/remove anything. I use an AMD 5600+ dual core with 2GB of memory and it shaved 20 seconds off my startup. I'm loading Comodo Firewall, SpySweeper, Nod32 and about 6 utilities. After clicking at the welcome screen, I'm ready to go in 15 seconds. Used to be 40+. It is important to place the programs in proper order and allow enough time for them to fully load. The default wait time between apps is 3.0 seconds. I changed it to 1.75 to 2.5 seconds on the biggies and .75 to 1.0 on the utils. I used task manager to see how long it took an app to load completely and went from there.
Geez, I can't believe what some people say. For $30 they want it to do everything. If you want ana pp to tell you if a startup app is necessary or not, use Ultimate Troubleshooter. Wanting this app to tell you what startups can be removed is like whining that Nod32 doesn't have a check register. Sheesh!
