We like the functionality of this program, which gives you a fine degree of control over the applications that launch at Windows start-up. You can choose which ones start, change the start-up sequence (useful for letting smaller programs launch before the big, slower applications), and set delays between application launches. Though Startup Faster 2004 may cut down your start-up time, the gain isn't dramatic. In our tests, Windows took 10 percent less time to start up. More tinkering may produce better gains and a lot will depend on how many programs you have set to automatically launch. The interface is clear. We like the help tips that appear when you mouse over elements of the interface, and it's convenient to be able to access the properties of a start-up item by right-clicking. If your system launches multiple applications at start-up, this program will help you fine-tune it and may gain you some boot-up speed.Publisher's description
From URSoft :Startup Faster 2004 makes your computer boot faster by launching your start-up applications one at a time rather than attempting to launch them all at once. As you may know, sometimes there are more than 30 programs launched by Windows at the same time, which causes Windows to boot up very slowly. With Startup Faster 2004 you can fully control how quickly programs launch and how they launch. It also includes a start-up manager, so you can take full control of the start-up programs and enable, disable, or permanently delete them.
Version 2.4.4 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Version: Startup Faster 2004 2.4.4
"Not helpful or even neccessary"
Pros: Well, it did let me see what was loading at startup, but then other programs such as CCleaner, will do it too. (CCleaner is my program of choice to clean the registry of errors, clean the drive for unneeded files, and it so easily deinstalls programs you don't want any longer - and its FREE)
What you ought to consider is getting more memory in your unit. (You can get 512M for under $70, and sites like Crucial.com even have automated systems to tell you exactly what you can put in your unit.) Your long startup times could very well be from running out of room for what you and the system are starting up. This will greatly increase your drive activity, and slow you down a lot as it is trying to do so many things at once. This program did bring things in one at one, but see my cons area.
As far as screwing my system up, all I had happen were some annoying popups to allow registry changes for every program in my startup routine the first time I ran Startup Faster, and I got to do it all again after I got rid os it. When I'm running everything I can get up to over 50 processes running in memory, and it was a real pain to do all of this in one day.
Cons: I deinstalled Startup Faster because it actually caused my system to take MUCH LONGER in starting up than without it - VERY noticeably slower. It should have pretty well blasted my programs in, for I have 1000M of memory running with a Pentium 3, and the programs are coming off a very fast 80G drive. If it works for you great, but it was a real problem for me.
