The lack of user guidance is the primary problem with this easy to use optimizer. Startup Booster lets you modify start-up programs, clean and tweak the registry, and alter BIOS settings. Those could be dangerous features in the hands of an inexperienced user. Unlike similar programs, Startup Booster lacks an adequate Help file and the onscreen directives provide little information.
Using Startup Booster is mostly a matter of selecting check boxes and clicking buttons. The tabbed interface includes a wizard-like approach to move you through each one. The first shows programs in the start-up list in a spreadsheet-style display. In addition to program name, it displays version, developer, location, and one of three indicators: System, User Choice, and Virus. The program gives you a few options to find out more about an entry, including launching the program, looking it up on Google, and opening the folder. We liked the ease of use, but some testers found the program incorrectly identified legitimate programs as viruses. Novices should definitely take advantage of the Google search to find more information before they consider removing an item. The second tab has a set of tweaks divided into recommended and not recommended. There's no information on the impact of each tweak, and the too-short descriptions aren't always clear. The registry cleaner on the next tab allows you to scan, then clean, or simply clean the errors it finds. Again, both tabs devoted to the registry are short on user guidance, and could cause problems for inexperienced users. The same goes for the BIOS tab, but the danger comes only in following the program's advice. Startup Booster doesn't make any changes to the BIOS, but gives the user a list of recommended settings so they can make the changes at system start.
This easy to use program is free, but lacks guidance for the novice and not enough features for the experienced user.

Version: Startup Booster 2.1
Pros: It seemed to help improve startup
Cons: The problem with it is that it altered a file on my computer in which it caused this TrayApp error in which it needed the disk to install well I didn't have the disk for it. I installed this on my brothers computer as well aside from the TrayApp we feel it may have frozen his icons in which he can't drag and drop them.
