Version: Star Wars Galaxies: Starter Kit 10-day demo
Cons: When the game first came out, there were 32+ professions you could choose to work on. If you decided you didnt like a profession, you could drop it and work on another, intermixing the professions as you felt the need.
You want to be a dancer who can earn a little on the side hunting in slow times in the cantina? (Maybe go Dancer/Rifleman, or maybe Dancer/Teras Kasi Artist with a dash of medic) Nope sorry you want to dance, (Entertainer) thats ALL you can do.
You wanted to catch and train the taun tauns they rode on Hoth? Be the like the guy who took care of Jabbas rancor in Return of the Jedi? You wanted to be the one who went out and got an egg to grow a veractyl like Obi Wan rode in revenge of the sith? Maybe catch and train the dewbacks that the stormtroopers were riding on as they searched for R2-D2 and C3PO on Tatooine in A New Hope? Guess the gungan animals they used in were BORN with all the gear strapped onto them and carry it because its attached to them...But if thats what you wanted, well, to bad because Sony/LA feel that the Creature Handler profession was "Not Star Warsy" enough and removed it... along with 20 or so of the other professions the game started with...
Due to the pathetic attempt at making SWG a FPS you can no longer type in chat and hunt at the same time unless you magically aquire an extra set of hands... god forbid you are disabled in any way.
Gameplay now looks like Benny Hill on crack.. freakishly sped up not improved....
Sony Online Entertainment/LucasArts = Hurricane Katrina, and Star Wars Galaxies subscribers = New Orleans. Be prepared at any time to have the game you purchased in good faith on how it was advertised to be completely changed with little to no notice.
If you do decide to go into this game, NEVER ever ever ever prepay for more then one month in advance. Many people paid up to a year in advance to have the game they wanted to play completely changed, and were refused refunds.

Version: Star Wars Galaxies: Starter Kit 10-day demo
Pros: Awesome detail to game. Stays within the theme of the Star Wars legacies story-wise, music-wise and in general. Multitude of quests. People are always around to team with at most times, unlike other games. If you're a Star Wars fan and happen to be 'special' enough to not get hung up on lag and bug issues, then you'll undoubtedly fall for the game very quickly, but beware...look at the cons well.
Cons: All the europeans claim this game is the bomb, but then the servers there are great I'm told also. I really don't understand the differences or why the euros have less issue with the same game in the same instances. Complain about it and they'll seem so helpful at first, but tend to go sour real quick when you prove them wrong. Lag issues were so bad for me, I cancelled my account within the third week after spending what I did to buy the full game discs. I even went so far as to reinstall Total Experience pack after I bought a new gamer-specific pc. It was made for MMORPGs specifically and still...LAG. And as if most MMORPGs aren't expensive enough to buy to begin with...(T.E. disc set cost me 60 bucks at the time I bought it)now this slap in the face to consumers...
25/month?? WHAT!? Hello? What happened to the standard 15/month we all paid to start with? That WAS the standard fee for most mmorpgs and considering your lag/bug issues you raised the price why? Who is a multi-million dollar "icon" of the gaming industry like LucasArts to try to reset the standard mmorpg fee system, causing havoc on older games now considering raising their prices cuz u did and uncertainty in pricing with newer ones? I returned to the game after four months to find a ten dollar increase per month to use those crappy servers for what? It certainly isn't so you could buy better servers or fix the bugs, so it must be to just line your pockets...sad, like you need it. Generally, my issues obviously revolve around LucasArts as a bunch of swindling, finger-pointing morons who think their game is perfect and everyone's comps are what the issues are related to. Take the Star Wars name off it and it's gonna fall flat on it's face! No one would put up with the lag, never mind the awful customer service and now an unnecessary increase in monthly fee. Shame on you LucasArts, for trying to filch even more money out of your customers for what should have been a great game if not for your cheap servers, bugs and poor cust. service skills!

Version: Star Wars Galaxies: Starter Kit 10-day demo
Cons: This game is so scewed up. I'm sure it was great to start out with but SOE probably fcked it up. Just like they fcked up all of their other games. There too focused on EQ2 to give a crap about any of their games that are actually GOOD. PlanetSide suffered the same fate. As a dissatified customer, I urge you: DON'T PAY PER month! In fact, don't even download this trial. The download time was six friggin hours for me.
Go to hell SOE. I loved your games. I'd really like to know what your marketing scheme is. SWG and PS, I knew thee well.

Version: Star Wars Galaxies: Starter Kit 10-day demo
Pros: great if you a kid who wants to play a console game on the pc
Cons: this used to be a good game the sony introduced the "new game experience" that removed two thirds of the professions. you can no longer do what you want when you want how you want. you choose a profession, then your stuck with it unless you delete your character and start again. if you have any problem with using a mouse..tough sony aren't interested in you as the whole game revolves around using your mouse.
this game is dying..before the recent changes i enjoyed this game..i'd play for 8 hours a day, i stayed a three weeks after this latest change to the game, but had to leave as it is now rubbish, too many bugs, too hard to gain decent experience so its near impossible to gain levels after you reach level 30 and in the "demo version" of the game, you can't leave the starter station oh, and in the main game the NPC's *don't* use voice to give you the quests
