Spyware and adware could be installed on your computer without your knowledge. These programs allow companies to monitor your Internet-browsing patterns and even to inundate you with annoying pop-up ads. SpyCleaner identifies and removes these surreptitiously installed applications. Using updatable reflists, which are similar to temporary Internet files, the program looks for traces of recognized adware modules. When it's finished searching, it displays a list of what was found and lets you select the items you'd like to remove from your system.

Version 8.7 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Considering its stiff competition, SpyCleaner fails to stand out as a truly reliable weapon against adware. Although the program's main window is easy enough to understand and navigate, we wished it could be resized to more easily view a list of detected components. However, after witnessing the program's lackluster performance, we can safely say its interface is certainly not the biggest issue. The malware database is quite small, containing fewer than 400 items. Scanning our test PC took a lot of time, and the application didn't even remove all the adware components it located, leaving a number of files and registry keys on our system. Still, we did find a few useful features, such as the ability to restore erased components if removing them damages your computer in some way, and the Hijack Repair utility that keeps an eye on home-page hijackers. We've certainly seen worse antiadware applicationss, but most users can do a lot better.

  "Better ASW apps are available for free"

  Pros: It will find some older types of spyware.

  Cons: Nothing inspires confidence like all but one review giving this a raving 2 THUMBS UP! and BEST EVER! and FINDS ALL SPYWARE!

  No ASW software finds ALL spyware, and this one is certainly not "the best there is", not by a long shot.

  "Finds Every spyware"

  Pros: It Finds and deletes All your spyware. But be carefull if you have a P2P proram like BearShares,Limewire,Kaza,etc. SpyCleaner will delete those programs if you don"t uncheck the box next to their names, because Spy Cleaner feels all P2P programs are spyware. I personally feel you should spend a few dollars more and get Spy cleaner Gold, It's an upgrade with more features, but they are both well worth the price to have a spyware free pc. 5 Stars and TWO thumbs UP!

  Cons: Might have a few false positives once in a while, I'm not sure.

  "Failed to download!"

  Cons: Twice I tried to download it and it failed. It only partially downloaded. I can't say if it's any good or not.

  "Great. It is the BEST"

  Pros: This is better than anyother spyware program I have used. It doesn't find everything like other programs but it sure does find WAY more than the others. DOWNLOAD IT!

  Cons: Takes too long to scan.

  "Easy to use and powerful to remove spyware"

  Pros: I love this product. I have already another product, Spy Cleaner Gold from this company and both of these software has made my life easy since I do a lot of surfing.

  Cons: should have a little fast scan.
