This handy freeware Firefox add-on helps users clarify obscured links. SplitLink installs with all the ease of Firefox add-ons. Just download it, restart Firefox, and the add-on is ready to go. A multitabbed configuration interface offers easily set options and a nice set of Help window pop-ups.

SplitLink automatically removes elements that make it harder to see where a link is sending you. That's only part of this add-on's functions. With a single click, users can quickly set pop-up windows to open in the current window, new window, or new tabs. The add-on first operates on the pop-up URLs to filter out bad parameters or block unformatted URLs. One tab includes easy-to-set options to force pop-up size.

Testers were less happy with SplitLink's Customize options. A default set of rules govern altering the URLs for specific domains and parameters. Though the tab includes a method to add items to the list, the add-on neglects to offer instruction for the option.

Obscured URLs are a daily problem for some users. SplitLink goes a long way toward reducing this issue, and adds a useful bonus feature to help manage pop-ups.

Efficient antivirus and anti-spyware that detects malware

Publisher's Description

From Ron Beckman:

SplitLink will allow you to view the true URL that you are being redirected to. Sometimes links may contain hexadecimal characters or numerous parameters that make them more difficult to read. By using SplitLink you can remove the parameters, remove JavaScript code from links, and convert all of the hexadecimal characters back to ascii. "A really neat way of checking blind links in web pages!"

    February 15, 2010  |   By informationau

    Version: SplitLink 2.0.7

    Pros

Split Link is truly an amazing tool, that allows a browser user to see where links in web pages are going to go. It also enables a web address to be shown in ascii characters.

    Cons

As good It is, it only works up in Firefox fro .9x to 2.0; and it doesn't seem to have been developed for other versions, or other platforms. I still use Firefox 2.0 - it works for me.

    Summary

    Bloody ripper.
