There's more than one way to speed up a slow PC. For instance, you can upgrade your hardware by adding more RAM or a faster hard disk. You can remove a lot of your programs or reinstall Windows entirely. Or you can try a program like SpeedItup Free, a free tool for tweaking, cleaning, and boosting PCs, especially older and slower units. It works automatically in the background to recover memory resources, clean system caches, and erase browsing traces. Its Super Defrag tool is supposed to optimize hard disks, improving performance by up to 150 percent, according to its developer.
SpeedItup Free essentially bundles three tools with automatic scheduling and other options, and its colorful, compact interface has three tabs for the three tools. The first tool, SpeedItup, offers four processes, each with a check box: Windows Optimization, Ram Booster, Internet Cleanup, and HardDisk SpeedUp. The other two tabs access the Internet Cleanup and HardDisk SpeedUp tools individually. A large speedometer dial dominates the interface. The program's only options cover automatic startup and operation, plus the ability to delete tracking cookies and select Firefox, IE, Opera, and Chrome for cleaning. The Help button called up a page summarizing what the program does in sketchy detail; for instance, it "first optimizes your windows settings" to boost performance. We can think of lots of ways to do that, and we'd like to know what's being changed, but SpeedItup doesn't share that information. But its RAM booster and tweaks caused no fuss. The disk defrag tool notes that the first pass can take 5 minutes to 3 hours but that subsequent passes are quicker. Ours took less than an hour.
SpeedItup offers to download another of the company's system cleaners, which is fairly typical since the company's in business to sell software. We have no problem with ad-supported freeware, nags, or ad pop-ups (SpeedItup's pop-up is mild by comparison) as long as the program does what it claims without a trial period or requiring you to buy anything. SpeedItup does what it claims. One point, speed demons: Never run Super Defrag, or any disk defragmenting tool (even the Windows defragger) on a solid-state drive (SSD). SSDs don't need defragging, and it just wears them out faster.

I was talking to my sister about helping me buy a new computer because of how extremely slow our familiy computer had become when she suggested I download this product. It has made the computer SO FAST that i dont even need to buy one...Saving me several hundred dollars!

I downloaded this software last week and now my computer is extremely fast. My youtube video streams immediately after hitting play, where as before I use too to have to wait 5 to 10 minutes to watch one video. I love this software!

"Works Great - BE Careful"

Pros
Speeds up moving around windows and accessing programs greatly. It re-configures your hard-drive for much faster access. The company also has their own removal program should you wish to do so. Use theirs.
FYI about my system (this program works best on older systems....)

There is also an offer to "upgrade" the program for $4.97. READ THE PRINT...if you download this you also agree to a one week trial of "gold" online computer services which has a one-time fee of $199.00!!
However, if you only download the Speeditup Free program (use CNET.com) you don't get any ads or anything...at least I haven't. I love it.
In their defense, the company also offers a separate Silver membership service of online repair for ANY problem for $11.00 a month. This includes telephone contact and the ability for them to remote connect to your computer and figure out what is wrong. The warranties and stuff on these services seem good. Could not find anything adverse about them on the Internet. They have been in business since 1993.Summary

First use can take about 5 hours. After that, goes down to about under half an hour (I had lots and Lots of stuff on my computer, though. Now that I've reinstalled my operating system, however, we'll see how much time the first use consumes. My guess--perhaps--is less).
