This bare-bones Palm strategy game is reminiscent of the old DOS classic Dope Wars. Both have the same basic goal: sell goods at a profit and retire rich and happy. In Space Trader you are an intergalactic merchant buying and selling goods such as robots, ore, weapons, machines, water, and food. You travel among different solar systems from planet to planet, looking for cheap products and high prices for your goods. On your travels you run into pirates and greedy cops looking to steal your cargo. As money comes in from your trading, you can enhance your earning potential by upgrading and adding ships, buying more cargo space, hiring space deckhands, and adding various armaments to your ship. If you get bored with the honest space-trader routine, you also can try your hand as a galactic pirate hijacking other trader's cargo and trading in the illicit drug market. Although this route can be more difficult, it also can prove to be more lucrative. Even with a rather basic look and feel, Space Trader's impressive number of variables manages to keep the game challenging. This, coupled with fact that the game is completely free, makes Space Trader a great game for anyone looking to kill some downtime with a Palm device.Publisher's description
From Pieter Spronck :Space Trader is a complex space trading strategy game in which the player travels through the galaxy trying to amass enough money to buy his own moon. Earning money is easiest as a trader, but it is also possible to become a bounty hunter and hunt down pirates, or to become a pirate and rob honest traders of their cargo.

Version: Space Trader 1.2.2
Pros: The first game I ever played like this was on an old telnet bulletin board. That game was called Trade Wars 2002. Local users would campaign for months on end, tourney, and so forth. This is a single player version, with limited graphics, but still addictive and fun.

Pros: Sure, it doesn't exactly incorporate cutting edge graphics or a highly advanced combat engine, but it'll have you wasting more hours alone with your device than you strictly should be wasting.
Cons: The occasional crash, especially with "special missions", but it's free - that more than makes up for these minor bugs!

Pros: This might be a great game, but I'll never know; the download files are incomplete.

"Great game but quickly loses fizzle"
Pros: This is a great game for about two weeks. When you finally get the hang of making lots of cash it's pretty boring. Just buy, fly to planet giving the best margins, sell. Once I could buy a huge ship and made lots of money, it lost its fizzle.
Great game if you have a commute on public transit.
Cons: Nothing at all. Worked perfectly on my little, old Palm Zire 21.
