It has a built-in editor that lets you select every element of a Mood, including instruments, scale, octaves, timings, background nature sounds. What's new in this version: Fixed a bug that reliably caused a crash when dropping a Mood file onto the Mood List.
Changed all "PICT" graphics files to "PNG" files since PICT files are being depreciated by Apple.
Improved the way instrument (MIDI) sounds are faded in volume (diminuendo), the way panning works for both instrument and soundfile sounds, and the way soundfile play/fade/pause is handled.

You can use pre-written combinations of sounds, or make your own: wind chimes, ocean, forest, wind, etc. You can mix the sound (more chime, less ocean, etc, or record your own. Timer and picture options, too. Cost is really low!

I find the control panel a little confusing (although this has improved with more recent releases)

If you want a nice little app that allows a huge number of options for "ambient sound environments," including pictures to display and timer features (wake up, sleep, etc) this is it. The controls allow considerable manipulation of the sounds , (more sound? more nature effects?) and tempo (how fast is the wind blowing on your wind chimes?) I have not explored all the options, but it's very pleasant when you want some "audible silence."

SonicMood is one of those rare applications that you might only find a few of during all your computer use years. For a decade now I have expected to find the perfect "Ambient Music" internet streaming "radio" stations and be satisfied. But that has yet to happen. They all go off in tangents and the like where what you are listening to is no longer ambient at all and it becomes annoying.
SonicMood is the prefect answer to this problem. It has 26 pre-define â??Moodsâ?? that gives the user the â??feelingâ?? that they want to hear. Then just let it play and it will forever keep playing that Mood randomly. Plus all the Moods can be edited as one pleases as well as there is the ability to create oneâ??s own Mood.
For me personally, this is the perfect sleep aid! I usually start it up, playing it through the homeâ??s sound system a couple of hours before I go to bed and leave it playing until I have my morningâ??s coffee. I love it! -

Blaring on the radio, xmas music, which is NOT for everyone. Thus SonicMood is a clean refreshing break, and is truly relaxing and good for background music while working on Mac computer graphics and reading the plethora of e-mail files and web site newsletters. So many sound choices, thus it never gets boring. Keep up the good work. -

I fired this up and spent hours tweaking all the different parameters for the music synthesis engine. It's highly configurable, and a great learning tool for music theory. I don't even care much for New Age music, but SonicMood forced me to look at it in a different light.
This app is clearly a labor of love for the developer. $10 is a steal considering the effort that went into writing SonicMood. -

I have to give this application all 5's. It serves a very useful purpose - to help you relax - and it does it well. The icing on the cake is that the developer is caring and responsive. The new feature of playing a background soundfile along with the instruments really boosts the effectiveness of the moods. It'a also highly customizable. I think no matter where you may be with your computer it can improve your environment, help you relax and even concentrate better. I recommend it highly! -
