Capturing screenshots may not be glamorous, but at least SnagIt makes it simple. SnagIt lets you capture any part of your screen, from a partial image to the entire contents of a scrolling window. You can grab images of Web sites and software applications or pictures from scanners and digital cameras. You even can capture video and record screen action in AVI format.
Editing tools let you manipulate and enhance captures using effects (such as Brightness, Hue, and Saturation), filters, and borders. You can add arrows, substitute colors in the captured image, or create dark or light backgrounds with a single click. Version 8 adds several interactive features, such as saving Web pages with HTML links, adding hot spots and rollover states to objects and areas, and exporting files in SWF and PDF formats.
This program outdoes itself in features, so figuring out the menu structure may take a while, but the GUI additions in version 8 are a welcome addition. Unfortunately, the latest update is just as slow to start as the last version. Even with its package of powerful options, we found SnagIt flexible and easy to use. Balloon tips, wizards, and an online video tutorial make it simple for beginners, and its sophisticated capabilities will satisfy advanced users.

Publisher's description
From TechSmith :SnagIt: Capture your digital lifestyle. Capture anything you see on the screen. Edit and combine those captures. Share them via your favorite applications. Organize and find them again later. The more you use SnagIt, the more ways you'll find to use it. Want to get a laugh? Add a speech balloon to that photo of your cat and fire it off in an instant message. Need to make an impression at work. Capture that sales chart and point out important details with a sleek-looking arrow. SnagIt can turn a simple screenshot into a powerful information graphic. SnagIt is versatile, yet surprisingly simple. As one SnagIt user said, "It's as basic or as powerful as you need it to be. Maybe that's why millions of people worldwide love using SnagIt, in a million different ways.

Version: SnagIt 8.2.3
Pros: I really like SnagIt, one of the greatest screen-capture utilities in the market.
Cons: 2 reasons :
Overpriced : $39.95 : 29.95 would be enough
Way Complicated
Currently, I am using a small screen-capture utility called "Screen Capture Professional" and it's really great because I can't buy SnagIt.

"Awesome utility that is the complete package for screen recording."
Pros: Best utility around when you need to take screenshots and edit them or if you need to record your screen movements.
Cons: The company is a bit stingy when it comes to upgrades. I bought this program when Version 7.25 came out and two months later they upgraded to version 8 and said I had to pay for the upgrade ;( Companies need to give their customers at least 12 months of free upgrades after spending hard earned money on their apps.

Version: SnagIt 8.2.3
Pros: This allows me to capture the screen, the program window or even record what I'm doing on the screen for my online tutorials. Theway it applies the effect and sets up the toolbar is really rocks. All the things become easy with this program.
Try it yourself and you will see that what I said is true ^-^

Version: SnagIt 8.2.3
"One of The Best VIDEO CAPTURE utility"
Pros: OK, some people have noticed that pressing Alt+PrtScn captures the screen. Duh. That's not what a screen capture utility is for. Streaming content providers have gotten much better at preventing you from downloading embedded content. I've used this software for a number of years and loved it. This version makes it easy to capture directly to Windows office programs like PowerPoint, Word. Easy to capture text. You can adjust most aspects of the video capture including FPS, compression.
Cons: The reason I'm not giving this a 5/5, is the price is a bit high, and there is a cheaper, simpler interface option that captures with equal quality - CapWizPro - not as feature rich, but still has the basic options like FPS and compression, and if you're an experienced user, it's not much hassle to get the output into different applications -
I don't like the way SnagzIt automatically installs its button on your MS Office application's toolbar without asking - what else is it doing?
