CNET Editors' review
Capturing screenshots may not be glamorous, but at least SnagIt makes it simple. SnagIt lets you capture any part of your screen, from a partial image to the entire contents of a scrolling window. You can grab images of Web sites and software applications or pictures from scanners and digital cameras. You even can capture video and record screen action in AVI format.
Editing tools let you manipulate and enhance captures using effects (such as Brightness, Hue, and Saturation), filters, and borders. You can add arrows, substitute colors in the captured image, or create dark or light backgrounds with a single click. Version 8 adds several interactive features, such as saving Web pages with HTML links, adding hot spots and rollover states to objects and areas, and exporting files in SWF and PDF formats.
This program outdoes itself in features, so figuring out the menu structure may take a while, but the GUI additions in version 8 are a welcome addition. Unfortunately, the latest update is just as slow to start as the last version. Even with its package of powerful options, we found SnagIt flexible and easy to use. Balloon tips, wizards, and an online video tutorial make it simple for beginners, and its sophisticated capabilities will satisfy advanced users.

"I never wanted it and I can't get rid of it."
Version: SnagIt 8.1
Cons
I have no idea where it came from and I don't want it and there's no uninstall, and it's running so many processes that I can't just delete the folder. Horrible.

"cool screen capture!"
Version: SnagIt 8.1
Pros
i never have use softwares to capture window screen other than alt+shift+ctrl+PrintScreen. so i was wondering why do i need software to do my screen capture when i can just press a few buttons on the keyboard to do the capturing. anyhow, i give this program a try.
damn, it was great. excellent software.
it does more than just capturing window screen. it pack with features to make the capture a lot easier. like just capture a single picture or sentences without the entire windows screen. this software let you save in many different formats too. it also let you edit text once it capture an interesting features.
Cons
there are copyrighted stuffs online. so you should be careful of what you capturing. 'cause this program will allow you to capture it. but as long as you don't use it for something stupid(you know what i mean)then you should be fine.

"Love At First Use!"
Version: SnagIt 8.1
Pros
Okay, maybe I'll get over it sometime but this is just awesome!
I tried a couple screen recorders before this and up to now I was getting discouraged. This time I tried reading a tip section on recorders in general, and Snagit was mentioned as worthy. So I have the 30 day trial and it works perfect! I'll be purchasing this one for sure.
What do I like? The way this works in distinct stages, capturing the audio and video seperatly and then combining the two to get the synchronization correct ( an issue I had with ScreenVCR) While selecting the area to be recorded, SnagIt pops up with a small zoom window to show the precise placement of the corners of my selection! Very cool! And for the most important part, the resulting avi plays back so close to the origional that I couldn't say for sure if there is a difference.
As for all the other features, if they weren't included I would still consider the $40 well spent.
Cons
Only used this for a half hour, so nothing to say yet about any cons. Maybe that some baloon tips were blocking the menu descriptions on the output choices. Not really a problem though as I will be looking into turning off the baloon tips anyways. But it's the only thing I could say bad about this product!

"Do You Realize You're Stealing?"
Version: SnagIt 8.1
Pros
Nothing
Cons
As a photographer, I am highly concerned about this software. I downloaded a trial version of it and was able to illegally copy and print images off my website. This is despite the fact that I have right-click disabled and watermarked my images, plus I upload low resolution files. I also have copyright notices all over my site.
The image resize feature in this software gave me a passable print.
Shame on the developers of this program and to anyone who illegally downloads protected images and content. You are all stealing when you do this, just as if you robbed a bank or liquor store.

"Great tool!"
Version: SnagIt 8.1
Pros
I've used this at work for years, and 8.1 is the best yet! I admit it took some getting used to the new interface, but it's still a great tool for getting quick screen shots. The editor and all the tools in it are just about perfect. I can't go on enough about SnagIt!!
