Capturing screenshots may not be glamorous, but SnagIt can turn the chore into a walk in the park. SnagIt lets you capture any part of your screen, from a partial image to the entire contents of a scrolling window. You can grab images of Web sites and software applications or pictures from scanners and digital cameras. You even can capture video and record screen action in AVI format.
Editing tools let you manipulate and enhance captures using effects (such as Brightness, Hue, and Saturation), filters, and borders. You can add arrows, substitute colors in the captured image, or create dark or light backgrounds with a single click. Version 8 adds several interactive features such as saving Web pages with HTML links, adding hot spots and rollover states to objects and areas, and exporting files in SWF and PDF formats.
This program outdoes itself in features, so it may take a while to figure out the menu structure, but the GUI additions in version 8 are a welcome addition. Unfortunately, the latest update is just as slow to start as the last version. Even with its package of powerful options, we found SnagIt a flexible and easy-to-use program. Balloon tips, wizards, and an online video tutorial make it simple for beginners, and its sophisticated capabilities will satisfy advanced users.

Version: SnagIt 8
"Great Utility Gets Better With Each Upgrade!"
Pros: Snagit has always been an excellent capture utility. I truly thought the application had peaked with Version 7 but somehow they've managed to top it with Version 8. The icon based interface is awesome and they've made huge improvements to the editor. If ever there was a time to try Snagit, it's now. Be sure to check out all of the bonus stamps, symbols and pre-defined capture profiles that can be downloaded from their support site!

Version: SnagIt 8
Pros: I use SnagIt since some years now and it keeps getting better and better with every release.
There's really so much you can do with SnagIt that it's become indispensable for me.
Too much to sum it all up, but you can capture a region, window, object, scrolling window, printing to PDF, capture images from a website and so on ...
I've it installed at home, but also at work because I need it almost daily in my job as webeditor.
Also keep in mind that support from TechSmith is the best to be found.
Cons: Pricey? A bit maybe, but not compared to what you can do with it.
Great value for you money. :-)

"Wonderful Screen Capture Capabilites - Excellent!!"
Pros: I've used SnagIt 7 (upgraded to version 8) for some time capturing Windows Media Player (avi) audio+video movies, lectures, demonstrations, etc.
Of course, SnagIt can capture everything that doesn't move or play as well.
One can save setups, such as audio/video captures, as profiles so doing a certain kind of capture is just a click away. Great software program.
Cons: None - it does everything I want to do.
