At first glance this program's gray interface seems drab; however, the program offers a wide assortment of educational challenges. SmarterKid's easy-to-use activities include hangman, scramble, word search, math, and memory games. Each game offers skill level options, customization features plus feedback on user progress. For example scramble players can set the number of vowels and consonants, shuffle letters, and if stuck, ask for the answer. The word search and memory games contain drop-down lists with preloaded pictures and word themes, and the math game offers addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication quizzes. There is one flaw though; numbers must be entered in reverse which may be difficult for young children. The female voice-over can seem annoying at times, but the program does offer a sound-off button. Parents looking for a good freeware application that offers a suit of educational games will find SmarterKid is worth a try.

It's ok, nothing flash. Some pretty good basic games (Make-all-the-words out of some letters, Hangman, Wordsearch, Memory, and a dumb Grade 1 Maths question thing.) Gets you used to working with words and memorising the order/arrangement of things.
Cons
I'm no expert but get rid of the .txt extension. Install it. Get the missing msvcr70.dll(I searched my computer and found two identical copies that two different programs were using) Once I copied it into the Smaterkids program folder (C:\Program Files\Hungrycat Soft\SmarterKid by default) it worked fine.

Cons
Apart from the strange installation process, ie the .txt file name and the missing DLL, it was simple enough to get going. But the games are weak and it seems the author is semi-literate. Not sure I need my kids to be taught such poor grammar, thanks!

the only thing it installs is a .txt file which even after changing the filename, will still only open a .txt file- notepad....was hoping for more, like the screenshots show.

I would love to tell you how much I love this product it sounds great and I will when I can download it successfully.

Unfortunately I could only download a .txt file. Taking the file extention off did nothing at all Pleeeeeese fix it or give download instructions if this is a new way to download files. ps I am not a newbie but this is anew one on me.

1. RIGHT Click on the file name.
2. Select rename.
3. Highlight and delete the ".txt" part of the file name.
4. Click outside the file name.
5. Computer will tell you that changing a file name can render the file useless, do you still want to change it? CLICK YES.
6. Double click the file to install.
