Free tool to search and replace text and file's names at once in one simple action. The tool will replace any appearance of a string: inside a file or in the file's name. It can be runs on sub directories also. This tool was originally developed for changing an entire development project at once. To install the tool just copy the executable file and open it. Usage: Select base directory to change, select if you want to run search also sub folders and replace options: Text inside the files and/or file's name, then click on Start in the Files list area you'll get a list of all the files that where changed, if you click on of them you'll get a list of changes in that file in the Changes list area.

Summary
Excellend for replacing a simple string with another in any number of large files. Works faster than any other tool I've used - Notepad++, PsPad, etc.

After first testing another tool which did not what I needed, this tool did exactly what I needed and even more: the possibillity to also change the filenames as well.
It saved me a lot of time and I will certainly use it often in the future.Cons

Pros
Very fast. Extremely easy to use. I zipped a copy of my website to the local drive. It was 70Mb. I use this software to search and replace the domain name "XXXXX.com" to a temporary IP address "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx". It takes less than 5 seconds to complete the work.
Cons
For a simple and free program like this, I cannot think of any.

Pros
Quick, (VERY QUICK) and easy, will change file names AND text in a file with a single search, e.g change all index.html to oldindexhtml in the text and changes the file name with it. Free- the price is right
Cons
Doesn't seem to support regular expressions, or control characters (CR, LF, etc. No "undo" or backup file creation.
