Another remedy for surfing the Web in a privacy-threatening environment, Smart Protector Pro keeps your boss or curious colleagues from seeing which sites you visit and which applications you run. The application's clean, well-labeled interface makes it a cinch to use, letting you easily erase cookies, history files, temporary Internet files, index.dat files, the Recycle Bin, recent documents, and the Windows temp folder. You can set it to empty other folders as well, and it deletes tracks of some popular applications, including ACDSee, Media Player, Google Toolbar, Winamp, DivX Player, and RealPlayer. You'll find an emergency hot key that closes all Internet Explorer windows immediately, and you can use the file shredder to permanently rid your PC of offending documents. It would still be nice if the program let you protect it with a password so other users on a shared PC couldn't use it. Unlike many other history erasers, Smart Protector Pro lets you save Internet Explorer tracks and settings. All things considered, we'd recommend Smart Protector Pro for anyone concerned with concealing his or her virtual tracks.
