It's hard to stand out in the crowded field of defraggers, but SmartDefrag is able to do so with an unexpected twist.
Along with quick analysis and scans, SmartDefrag boasts an automated defragger that continually defrags the files that you use the most, and does it without becoming a persistent drag on your system resources. When running in the background, the program only eats up 14MB of RAM, so it's possible to run it smoothly on older machines.
Other features we like include a scheduler you can set up to defrag whenever you want and some customization features if you want the program to start when Windows loads or right before logging off. You also can set it to shutdown your computer when it's done defragging your hard drives and partitions.
Overall, if you would like a handy defragger with options for scheduling and more, this is a great defragger for both novices and more experienced users.

Version: Smart Defrag 1.0
""Very Good Program, Easy to use""
Pros: Low cpu usage, automatic defrag start when your system is below 40% usage, so it is defraging without have to go turn it on. I find this great because every one in my family uses my computer. For a Free program it beats windows or Auslogic defrag.
Cons: Some files are not always moved to the front of the drive also if the auti-defrag is running and your computer looses power or crashes you may loose some files. It has not happened to me but a waurning is best.
Summary: This is a free program so you will find some problems with it, but over all it is a very good program. I have not found anything better yet for a family computer.

Version: Smart Defrag 1.0
Pros: Nice interface and fast.
Cons: While defragging my external drive, clicked on "Turn off computer after defrag" checkbox and it interrupted the process. It smoked a bunch of MP3 files that I know of because they wouldn?t play - not sure what other ones I lost.
Summary: You know what they say about 1.0 versions...

Version: Smart Defrag 1.0
Pros: nice features
Cons: My computer went on standby during defrag. I lost one file and one MFT got messed up. Recycling Bin had to be emptied.
Summary: Whatever the nice features, priority should be set to safety of data.

Version: Smart Defrag 1.0
"Easy to use and a VAST improvement over Windows defrat"
Pros: Before Smart Defrag, Windows Defrag would consistently take a few hours to defrag, even though I ran Defrag twice a week. Smart Defrag is MUCH faster, and far more thorough. And, it seems to be fairly idiot proof. A very welcome addition to my system
Cons: Nothing that I can think of.
