This Internet Explorer add-on quickly extracts and downloads a portion of or an entire Web site, although its functions are limited to Internet Explorer. SmElis WebData Extractor's functional, logically tabbed interface is simple enough to operate and is optimized for images, sounds, and text, as well as HTML codes, scripts, and Flash applets. The program uses multithreading to quickly and simultaneously download all files and test links. Although this process takes only a few minutes, the trial only saves one file per session. We like that retrieved images and Flash applets immediately appear in their respective tabs, where users can save or download them into user-specified directories. SmElis WebData Extractor also captures screenshots of a Web page (but only the part that is visible in a browser window) and a site's properties, including URL, referrer URL, size, number of frames, and images. SmElis WebData Extractor is handy for offline viewing and reading. Its only catch: the program is an Internet Explorer exclusive. Advanced users, dial-uppers, or just about anyone who prefers to read Web pages offline will find this title worthwhile.
