Version: SlickEdit 2007 12.0.3
"Simple or as complex as you will ever need"
Pros: I have used this as a student and as a professional. It is extremely useful tool. I cringed at previous published reviews that call this a complex piece of software. It is fully customizable. Covers all languages I use (nothing obscure). The menu driven systems are full of features. I use many of them but certainly not all of them. Worth every penny of the cost. The real value is realized in not using a new proprietary editor. Works extremely well with GNU compilers and tag files are updated very easily.
Was shocked to see that I was actually supported. Wiki page on editor comparisons will shed light on what else might work but I wouldn't switch at this point
Cons: Version 12 release users should install 12.03 patch immediately. I found a few flaky functioning disappeared afterwards.
