Occasionally in the world of software development, you run across an application elegant enough to be a true work of art. This, unfortunately, lies somewhere on the other end of the spectrum. The download merely offers an HTML page with a link to a sound file that is supposed to help users sleep. The text on the HTML page offers some instructions on how to get comfortable, and clicking the link begins playing the audio file. The recording's slow, deep voice is presumably aimed at lulling listeners into dreamland. In our minds, this certainly doesn't rate a $20 price tag; but if you're a confirmed insomniac and reading your Windows XP instruction manual still hasn't put you to sleep, maybe it's worth a try.Publisher's description
From SoundTells :Having hard time falling asleep? Try this prerecorded audio relaxation technique that was used for over three thousand years. The Sleep Well software includes 15 minutes of breathing exercise and awareness rotation that was shown to be effective in alleviating insomnia. Lay down on your back, spread feet slightly, arms alongside of the body, palms are lying down on top of one another covering ether the solar plexus. Make sure you are comfortable and have no unnecessary tension as you prepare to begin the sequence. Place the PDA on the pillow, click the Sleep button and follow the directions of your personal relaxation trainer to fall asleep fast. The software can also be used for relaxation during the day. No headphones necessary. After the user falls asleep the PDA is turned off automatically. Trial version allows you to listen to half of the exercise sequence.

Version: Sleep Well 2.1
"Beats all those fancy and overpriced "sleep machines"."
Pros: As a person who has to travel on business and has to spend at least three nights every week in different hotels, I decided to play with this software. I found it to be cleverly written, simple and easy to use. It beats all those fancy and overpriced "sleep machines".
