With its free Internet calling service, Skype is turning the international telecommunications market on its head. This download now brings the service's high-quality voice calls, easy instant messaging, and voicemail to handheld computers. Users can make international calls to other Skype users for free, simply by selecting the desired person from the contact list and pushing the Call button. The service also allows users to call regular land-line and mobile-phone numbers, although this feature costs extra money. The Skype interface is simple and intuitive, with a tab-based design that even beginners can figure out quickly. The program guides new users through the installation process, bringing them painlessly online. All told, we would happily recommend this to anyone with a Pocket PC.Publisher's description

Version: Skype for Pocket PC 1.0
Pros: Awesome product! Easy to use, easy to set up, easy to install.
Cons: With VoIP, although the sound quality is excellent, there are frequent breaks when someone is not the right distance from the microphone. This isn't technically a problem with Skype, but newbies, be forewarned.

Version: Skype for Pocket PC 1.0
Pros: Works great. Really a nice
Cons: OnLine status flag does not seem to work.
Result: You have to try and see if your counterpart is ONLINE, otherwise you don't know. With my previous machine 4150, never had this problem. Wonder if it is something to do with my setup !?
Smileys dont seem to work also.

Version: Skype for Pocket PC 1.0
Pros: Easy to set up - works when MSN is a pain to get working in many places as it uses the same setting as Pocket IE.
Cons: None really - just make sure on a PC they are using a headset to avoid feedback loops.

Version: Skype for Pocket PC 1.0
"Great VoIP solution. Very reliable and excellent voice quality."
Pros: I highly recommend this product for free voice over IP communications. In fact, I'm not aware of even a fee-based VoIP product that is anywhere as good as Skype.
Cons: The interface is a little awkward and the feature set is lacking. But the most important - making free telephone calls and being able to carry on a clear conversation worked flawlessly.

"will have to reload ppc if uninstalled"
Summary: After I uninstalled Skype from my ppc, every time I went to power it on it would bring up an error that it could not execute the skype program. And to top it all off after the uninstallation took place, my ppc became very unstable and would lock up ... read more >>
