This program moves beyond napkin sketching to communicating ideas in 3D. SketchUp takes what may traditionally be seen as a complicated task and adds an intuitiveness many design programs fail to achieve. On first impression, this sketch-based 3D-modeling program may look as if it has sacrificed function for simplicity, but that's not the case. Despite the extremely user-friendly interface, SketchUp offers a suite of powerful 3D-drawing tools that let you experiment and play with new designs. All actions are carried out using two button bars, one that runs down the left side and another that sits along the top of the work space. After you simply sketch and draw edges, the application fills in the objects to create 3D geometry. SketchUp handles perspective and alignment calculations automatically. You can then export these objects into CAD, 3D-modeling, image-editing, illustration, or animation programs for further manipulation and editing. Functionality and price mark this for professional use, but curious amateurs may enjoy exploring the demo.Publisher's description
From Google :Developed for the conceptual stages of design, SketchUp is powerful, yet easy-to-learn 3D software. We think of it as "the pencil of digital design". This award-winning product combines a simple, yet robust tool set that streamlines and simplifies 3D design. SketchUp is being used by professionals and consumers alike. SketchUp is for anyone who wants to "Dream, Design or Communicate" in 3D! How is it different? SketchUp contains a unique interface that allows 3D forms to be created, viewed, and modified quickly and easily. The core of its simplicity is that you simply draw the edges of the desired model in 3D space, just as you would using a pencil and paper. SketchUp infers your design intent and will automatically determine the nature of the lines and fill shapes to create 3D geometry. Go ahead - download it now and kick the tires. We think you'll understand why we say that SketchUp puts the "fun" back into design.

Version: SketchUp 5.0
"The easiest modeler there is"
Pros: This amazing modeler is very easy to use, and it comes with step-by-step tutorials to learn. I had trouble with all of the other modelers that I tried and none of them were as easy as SketchUp. It is amazingly powerful for it's ease of use.
Cons: It crashed a lot, but that may just be my computer.

Version: SketchUp 5.0
Pros: -Very easy to use.
-Helpful Tutorials.
-Lots of built-in texturs to colour your 3D drawings with, such as brick textures, transparent glass, water, e.c.t...
-Feature to turn 3D drawings into 2D Picuture files.
Cons: -Sometimes hard to manouver.
-I'm not sure if there is a way to easily put objects into, say, a house. Because when you can see through the glass it looks unrealistic inside if it's empty.

Version: SketchUp 5.0
Pros: This is what most people are looking for in a 3D application. Very easy to learn, very intuitive, and great professional results. You dont need to be an expert to get professional results. Adobe photoshop developers should take a look and learn a lesson from this App. This is the best program ive seen if youre into 3D and graphics, and ive tried hundreds of them.
Cons: The only thing id like to see is a option for recording a video clip

"Very nice software, but not worth the price"
Pros: Very easy to use.
Cons: Too expensive. I would pay between $50 and $100 for this application in a heart beat. I think most hobbyists would. Even graphic design and animation firms may even have a problem with it, since everyone is on a budget.
My advice to the publishers -- drop the price and I'll buy, or I'll just wait till someone else comes out with the same application at a low price, or until the open source commnunity does it.
I wish them the best of luck either way.
