  Pros

  It wasted my time and it was not what it purported to be, so...none. Oh no! I tell a lie! The little box was pretty.

  Life is too short to explore its undoubted, infinite miracles and pitfalls. And yet, to my guileless and doubtless pig-ignorant eye, it seemed fairly mediocre at best.

  Summary

  Anybody else who doesn't like software you have to pay for, yet which masquerades as "free"? "Free download" is the biggest con of our time and as a phrase, should be banned. Even the latest Adobe Software is a free download.- before it asks you to fork out $3,000 a week or two later. But this doesn't even let you do that. Straight into demo mode and let's have those personal details for our records, if you don't mind, whilst you're toying over whether to fork out or not... "Free but it's a demo" is almost as insulting. For students of English history: find out what was done to Edward II in Berkeley Castle. And then do it to this lote

  I can't find a single file that this works on. It won't attempt to interpret the clipboard. Its keyboard shortcut weakness suggests that it was by something less than best quality programmers. I'd love to go 2 stars but it seems utterly useless.

  Recognized characters with a great deal of help.

  After running Simple OCR the characters lost all formatting and were just words in one column down the page. It was a waste of time for me - I could have retyped the document faster.

  Not worth installing - too much work to not get a usable document.

• Good idea but fails to perform

  Pros

  Free. Dual-window and word highlighting (image and translation), no configuration and it recognized my scanner. I admit, I haven't had much experience with OCR so maybe these are to be expected.

  Cons

  I wish I had read these reviews before . It's probably faster to retype if you type fast instead of going through all the time-consuming corrections. After all the scanning, translation and corrections it loses saved files forcing me to start over.

  Summary

  Saves max 20 pages (thankfully, given problems later), then when I save image for later translation I find it only saves current page. Had to rescan and translate then (unless maybe I saved 20 files for 20 pages). Not intuitive loading images, you have to click Add Page as if you were scanning. Then after an hour or more of scanning and correcting errors (usually less than advertised 90% correct rate as advertised) I save the document and open Word. Word says the doc is not found. Fortunately I still had the image and doc in SimpleOCR. Try saving again and it asks if I want to overwrite. I pick a different directory, save, and finally I can bring it up in Word. Unfortunately the 20 page batch I "saved" previously is nowhere to be found. Looks like I will have to rescan that section a 3rd time. I'm looking for something else.

  Doesn't work with many very simple, clear documents. Lots of bugs. Crashes frequently.

  Summary

  Don't waste your time. This product is full of bugs, performs poorly, and crashes often. Why can/t I give this product zero stars, or even negative stars!?

  Too many errors in translations. Doesn't recognize numbers and some punctuation.

  Summary

  This program can't even translate pages of Times New Roman text. You could waste time making 23486238723 corrections per page, or you could just re-type the entire document, yourself, in the same amount of time.
