SideTrack is a replacement driver for the trackpad (touchpad) found on Apple PowerBooks. It brings many of the trackpad scrolling features found on Windows laptops to MacOS X. Most Windows laptops implement trackpad scrolling using drivers made by Synaptics. Although Apple PowerBooks also use custom Synaptics trackpads, the standard Apple driver uses none of the special Synaptics features.
SideTrack supports these features:
- Vertical scrolling at left or right edge of pad.
- Horizontal scrolling at top or bottom edge of pad.
- Map hardware button to left or right click.
- Map trackpad taps to no action, left click, left click drag (with or without drag lock), or right click.
- Compatible with uControl, including uControl's scroll emulation.
What's new in this version: This is a public beta release. This version will expire on November 30, 2003. Since this is a beta kernel extension please exercise appropriate caution.

This program is great. I have bought 4 Macs and I have bought this program for all of those and it works on all of them great. Its only $15.00 and was well worth it. I recommend you try it and see if its worth your $15.00 and if it is buy it.

I was really missing sidetrack on my macbookpro - i had to uninstall it dew to sleeping problem it caused. But with this version(1.5) problem seems to be resolved finally.
I'm really happy to have back sidetrack on my laptop.

Congratulations to SideTrack for being the first piece of shareware I ever paid for, and I'm a pretty cheap you-know-what. SideTrack works like a charm on my trusty old G3 Pismo Powerbook (another sign of my cheapness, but this thing is still going strong!) w/ 10.4.7, and I have become unable to work without it. Thanks for a fantastic piece of software! -

I can't imagine being without it. I no longer carry a mouse with me on trips. In fact I've stopped using a mouse all together. About as indispensable as indoor plumbing on a freezing night.
I think I paid the shareware fee less than hour after installing it and never looked back. Kudos to the the developer!!

Having used this for so long with my iBook I was upset when I moved onto a MacBook and realized I hated the scroll pad. I find SideTrack to be way more accurate than the two finger method and much better at getting a customized feel. It's really one of those programs I feel every laptop user should at least try. -

I use this driver long time, and after upgrading my powerbook to macbookpro, this was one of major things, I was missed.
This driver must be part of system - apple has to include it to OSX. Absolutely fantastic product - useful, lot of features and possibilities. I may recommend Sidetrack to everybody who owns laptop. -

Even though my new PB supports two finger scrolling, I still use Sidetrack. I'm just simply used to it. I don't care for the two finger scrolling method and Sidetrack does a great job letting me customize how I want my trackpad. Great product and highly recommended. -

I bought sidetrack to use on my 1.2ghz iBook G4, but upgraded over last summer to the new 1.33 that has two finger scrolling... I'm in love with this new scrolling method and I really hate the loss of it when using sidetrack. Please support this so I can go back to using your product! -

I believe this is the first time I have left feedback for software. SideTrack is amazing. It took a few adjustments to get it suited for me, but now we're inseparable.
This is worth every penny. Undying gratitude to Alex! (who, BTW, has great tech support!)
