Version: SharpReader 0.9.4.1
Pros: Very small footprint (given that you already have the .Net framework), clean layout (Outlook style), no adware or spyware bundled with it, no fancy graphics or colors - it's a stripped-down news machine. Headers and summaries are delivered, and the whole story can be opened in the same pane - no IE needed. A Messenger-style popup appears for new stories, with the header and summary. The AutoPurge feature is a great way to highly customize how news items are kept and deleted.
Cons: Manual RSS address entering is a little cumbersome, and there isn't much that will please the eye for aesthetics. Probably not a good choice if you don't already have the .Net framework (though most everyone does).

Summary: Nice clean interface but some features like AutoPurge need attention. It does it's job well without bothering you with doopey over-sized icons or fainted advertisements.

Summary: W2K, 192 Mb RAM, ltos of hard drive space. only tried this program for a day or so, but it keeps bugging out on me (not responding) when it updates the newsfeeds. going to try another program (rssreader)to see if the same occurs.

Summary: Even though it's a memory hog running under .NET, the interface is minimal, clean and without the bells and whistles and the usage is "self-describing".
