Sender Verification Extension is a Thunderbird extension that will protect you from phishing by comparing the From: address of emails aginst published Sender Policy Framework (SPF), DomainKeys records (albeit in a slightly nonstandard way), and RBLs. The result of the check is displayed at the top of every email.Sender Verification Extension reports, when possible, whether the sender shown in the From: header was actually the sender of the email.

This is intended to be a tool to identify phishing, fradulent emails asking for your sensitive data, and zombie-spread viruses claiming to be from someone they are not. The extension uses Sender Policy Framework (SPF) (in a nonstandard way), DomainKeys (DK), and various phishing databases through SURBL.
