Special feature is the fully-integrated file-extension search engine accessible in the context menu of each file.

This specialized database gives basic information regarding file extensions, but doesn't provide any assistance with file management. Simply fill in the extension you'd like to research for a basic search. The file type and program search fields can also be filled in; however, the application will deliver results without them. SearchExt lists the file type, programs, and platforms associated with the file extension in question. We also find its integration with Windows practical so results can easily be viewed from the right-click context menu. The application presents its information rather quickly, although more functional features for scanning and organizing the files on your system would be beneficial. With a zillion file extensions out there, SearchExt works well at letting users know which ones work with what application.
