"Great for anyone downloading mega-photographs."
Version: Search&Replace 1.5.7.2
Pros
Versatile, very easy use and a terrific timesaver when downloading digital photographs. It is particularly handy when there are multiple topics/subjects because different batches of pictures can be allocated entirely different file names FAST!
Cons
The drag and drop no longer shows the file names although it still works fine.
Summary
The flexibility of S&R makes it possible to change file and folder names in a variety of ways, add (or subtract) prefix and suffix info, renumber photos and alter whole directories in one hit when it becomes obvious the original brilliant idea really wasn't.
With many thousands of digital photographs on my hard drive, it is often necessary to turn 2-digit file suffixes into 3 or 4 to cope with ever growing subject folders. The same versatility comes in handy when sending files to a third party, often with the requirement to establish new naming conventions and merge files from different sources.
Like most computer programs, it is not a magic wand, but with a little lateral thinking, it is an extremely handy tool that I for one would be lost without.
