You won't find absolute perfection in this free desktop app for streaming Internet Radio, but you will find a mess of language options, preset stations, and a few extra functions stuffed into a very light, fast app. For casual listeners, the combination will be just right. Not every preset station will be a success--we found that many URLs lead to a Web site, not to a stream. If that's the case, you can follow the link from Screamer Radio, do a little searching around the site, and manually enter the URL. Unfortunately, there's no way to edit the global library for everyone's benefit.
As for the perks, you're looking at two sound effects, saving favorite stations (but not songs,) and audio recording--you'll be able to easily open the Recordings folder from the app interface. With Screamer Radio, you'll also be able to mute audio and do some manual configuring. It's a great deal for those looking for ease of use and an easy way to experiment with new stations and sounds in a set-it-and-forget-it format. If you're looking for more advanced features like visualizers, saving individual songs, and socializing, however, this isn't the radio app for you.

Version: Screamer Radio 0.4.3
"Simple, quick internet radio"
Pros: Works great, comes with a huge library of URLS, you can (manually) add your own. Small footprint, very easy to use. Takes up only 16K of your memory.
Cons: Adding your own URL's is awkward; no skins; needs an option to avoid opening multiple copies of the program.
Summary: This is one of the best little programs I've ever used -- click, you've got music; click, you can try out any of hundreds of stations, sorted by genre, language, and country. Totally cool! It needs an easier way to add your own stations, but that'... read more >>

Version: Screamer Radio 0.4.3
"free, portable, simple to use and update"
Pros: Portable, portable, portable. Favorites are easy to update manually and reload as they are stored in an XML file. Very easy to record radio stations.
Cons: None. Yes, it often fails to connect but thats not the fault of the software. Streaming URLs come and go.
Summary: Highly recommended.

Version: Screamer Radio 0.4.3
"Not really suited for recording free music"
Pros: Free of charge
Cons: Not suitable to get accurately cut free music
Summary: While Screamer Radio 0.4.3 does offer a convenient way to stream and organize online radio stations, it does fail horribly when confronted with the task of recording and storing cleanly cut songs. The culprit really is the way that online radio is b... read more >>
