This venerable artillery-style slug-match gets a 3D update with Scorched3D, an addictive and nicely rendered turn-based game. Installation runs smoothly, letting you quickly get to the action. The main interface screen works as a launchpad where you can choose which type of game you want to play, from single- to multiplayer. It also lets you run the game as a server, hosting a game. With a couple more screens, you can actually start playing, an issue that could be resolved with better integration in the launch interface. Just before starting a game, you get to choose an avatar, and Scorched3D comes with everything from a World War II howitzer to Kenny from South Park.
Initially, the interface can be very confusing, as the mouse only controls camera angles. You will need to refer to the documentation to learn which keys to press to destroy the other players. Unfortunately, the documentation exists outside the game as text files. However, once you learn the commands, the joy of lobbing missiles at other players by choosing elevation, power, and rotation makes the game hard to put down. The graphics are amazing for a free game with a relatively small download. Camera angles include a follow-the-projectile shot worthy of movie special effects. Scorched3D offers good variety in the types of projectiles you can lob and in defensive measures that can be deployed. Also, player turns can be set to occur simultaneously, relieving the annoyance of having to wait for your turn. Although it lacks inline help and onscreen controls, Scorched3D is hugely fun.
Publisher's description
From Scorched3D :At its lowest level, Scorched 3D is just an artillery game with two+ tanks taking turns to destroy opponents in an arena. Choose the angle, direction and power of each shot, launch your weapon, and try to blow up other tanks. That's basically it. But Scorched 3D can be a lot more complex than that, if you want it to be. You can earn money from successful battles and use it to invest in additional weapons and accessories. You can play with up to twenty four other players at a time, mixing computer players with humans. There's a variety of changing environmental conditions and terrains to be dealt with. After the end of each round (which ends when everybody dies or there's only one person left), you get to buy stuff using the prize money you won from previous matches.
Version 41.3 fixes issues such as: slow clients causing others to timeout, rebalancing of some weapons.

Version: Scorched3D 41.3
"I've Played this since it was on the Amiga, It's still a good addictive game."
Pros: Graphics are great and the game play is fun. Lots of different weapons to use which helps keep it interesting.
Cons: Seems like the rewards are lower thereby making it harder to get some of the weapons. The different weapons are what keeps it fun and interesting. Didn't like the low ceiling, it blocks some of the camera views line of sight.

Summary: This game is so much fun. It's easy to get into and you could easily be playing for an hour. It's also fun to crank up the amount of AI's and watch the armada of missles flying across the screen :).

"Super artillery shooting game with enhanced dazzle"
Pros: I like the variety of super weapons you can shoot and buy and the ability to set up a custom game or play online was cool.
Cons: It was also a bit difficult to learn at first
Summary: The graphic environment of the game was great, the game play was really good even though there wasn't much to the GUI to make it look cool.
