Harddrive, as a combination of Mechanics and Electronics, is performed by its absolute rotational speed and data output rate. On the other hand, any a hard drive is connected on a system, and the optimum algorithm as a more economical approach to the best possible on-system performance is widely used. Whence, SciMark Standard Drives is forcing drives to run on the Operating System Level, in order to see how fast it could be. There would be a large file made, but nothing will be more than write and read. It is benchmarking.
