This free program is for reading RSS newsfeeds. It collects news in the background at user-configurable intervals and warns you with a small pop-up in the system tray when a new message has arrived. You can click the headline to see a short description and then open the original Web page in an RssReader browser or default browser window. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a format for indicating news. RssReader supports RSS versions 0.9x, 1.0, and 2.0.

"Number 1 RSS Reader"

Pros
Easy install and uninstall, without errors. This is the best RSS Reader I could find and it is free. RssReader has all the necessary functions, works good and looks great. I tested version 1.0.88.0, which I downloaded from his website.
Cons
You have to open the RssReader via the task tray.

This is a good, solid RSS reader. It seems to work reliably.
A later version can be downloaded directly from the rssreader.com site.
Cons
Occasionally gets slightly confused about which headlines are new, but this may be down to the feeds themselves.

Summary
RssReader worked for the short time I tried it, however it lacked differentiating features. Nothing special. The required addition of .net makes it a resource hungry addition to systems that don't already have .net installed. I can't recommend it with all the other competent and more efficient readers available.

You would need .NET runtime (similar to java runtime.. ). After that its flawless. People who are cribbing about .NET runtime should get one now than later since more and more cool software tools are being written in .NET.

"Lost RSS feeds randomly"

Summary
On 2 seperate occasions, all of my RSS feeds vanished. Not due to a program crash, or windows instability. I simply loaded RSS reader and was greeted with a blank screen, as if none of the 20 feeds I'd installed previously were ever loaded.

one complaint is the article is not immediately shown in the preview window. You have to click on 'show article' or view in browser to see it. Other I used cost a bit of $$$ but you saw the whole article in the preview window witout clicking anything.. Tec support has been very helpful and sent notice when updates to the beta version were up for download..
But you have to uninstall then install the next version instead of just installing it over the prev. version, and It is taking me forever to uninstall or install this program.. My comp or a program glitch I have not figured out yet.. -

Not bad, except that it relies on .net which makes it a real memory hog and a huge download.
