Who needs a standalone Flash video player? Mostly Web developers and the people who know them. If that describes you, check out Riva FLV Player, a modest freeware program that lets you navigate backward and forward through FLV videos and play them in a loop.
The interface is simple and self-explanatory, and the playback didn't give us any trouble during tests. You can "pin" the player on top of your other windows, and unlike some similar programs, it automatically adjusts the display window to the size of the movie. For the small number of people who need a program like this, Riva FLV Player is a reasonable choice.

The player itself is OK and now has a full screen selection.
Cons
Even though I deselected the yahoo tool bar add-on it added it anyhow and now I'm having problems keeping google as my search engine.

No full screen capability. Makes interpreting small on screen print, all but impossible.
Summary
It worked in a pinch. I had a short video to watch. If I had been more engrossed, I would have went back to the web and found something else. The first *.flv viewer I downloaded wouldn't even work in a 64 bit environment.
