Many features that other free AV dont have. Great interface! lots of options to choose from.

System scan is slow, must be changed to fast scan through my advice. Its slightly resource heavy but not too bad.

I was previously using Avira Antivir personal (free) for a while now and noticed once in a while my pc doesnt detect the antivirus.. windows security center keeps showing that Avira isnt active.. as i checked Avira's AV, it shows active through its main interface. It may be a vista problem, im not sure. I recently downloaded iolo's sys mechanic and tuned my pc. Sys mechanic also said my AV isnt active. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Avira AV, same problem remained. So, I gave up on Avira's free AV even though it is a great Av. I wanted to try something different and downloaded Rising AV free... the interface is great!! Rising has alot of features other free AV dont have (Avria Antivir free). Some features are... Web trojan defense, monitors operating system for malware attacks, malware protection, auto-protection which is basically a (file monitor) which monitors active files for suspicious activity and viruses and prevents viruses from spreading, it also has an option to scan system before booting up which is great for those hard to find viruses. On the bad side... the system scan is too long on selected slow scan. it took my pc of 250 gig hd 2 hours. but there is an option i over looked to change scan speed from slow, medium, fast. so thats a good thing. Rising is a bit on the resource heavy side but doesnt effect my 2ghz dual core pc too much. System scan slows my pc a bit though, but most AV do that. Other than that its a great Av, i am going to try it out for now... I have read the detection rates are avereage on the previous versions but I havent seen tests on the current one. I have other progz protecting me(malwarebytes antimalware(real-time protection), spyware terminator(real-time protection), and comodo's firewall. so Im not too worried... sorry for the long summary!

while I seeking free antivirus software, one of my friends suggest me RISING; so i try this rising antivirus 2009 in my pc.
it has smooth interface with multi software skin selection, this is so nice.
with rising's default settings, it gives me a medium level protection, after i finish the active protection settings, and check my PC with RISING for the first time, I get a high protection level.
Rising provide an active defense service, so while i start my pc or connect to the internet, it protect my pc for real time.
i love this rising antivirus, so here i suggest it to you. -

My computer is not fast, it's about five years old, but serves me just fine. I've swapped out virus scanners a couple of times for no particular reason. I have used AVG and Avira, both of which take about an hour to an hour and a half for a "full" scan. After installing and configuring Rising AV, I started a full scan. Three hours later, the progress bar was less than 10%, and the "estimated time left" was over 28 hours. So, I'm not sure how effective a virus detector it is, but it was just too slow for me. On a newer computer, it might be just fine, but I couldn't use it.

i have an old pc , windows 2000 , have protection from new viruses and found old viruses on system and got rid of them , ----- Where as the top 3 or 4 supposedly top antivirus programs , i could not even download them
