From Captive Developments :Retrospection, a free software program which can be used to capture the computer display much like a VCR/DVR captures video. Retrospection is used to play back recorded activity for those what did I do to cause this error situations. In addition to reviewing past activity Retrospection also supports creating AVI movie files so that information can be shared with other interested individuals.
Retrospection captures screen activity while not interfering with computer resources. This is accomplished by only capturing activity when there is mouse or keyboard activity and by running as a low priority process. Retrospection is a completely spy-ware and ad-ware free program. Version 2 supports multi monitor systems, exports screen capture sessions as AVI movie files, and saves current image as a JPG file. Version 2.1 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Version: Retrospection 2.1
Pros: it worked
Cons: Does not capture like a VCR/DVR as the developer claims. It captures one(1) frame per second, not 30.

"useful freeware for small movies"
Pros: Free + Decent interface options + Export to AVI up to 3 mins. It is useful for making small movies of your desktop.
Cons: Screen capture is 'jumpy' due to the limit of 1 frame per sec
