"Great software. And it's free for business use!"

May 26, 2014  |  By ChadVasquez

 |  Version: Remote Utilities 5.6.0.6

Pros

i searched for remote access program to manage my shop. First I tried teamviewer, and although it's great it's only free for personal use. Then i found this nifty utility and it exceeded my expectations. Since I only have 5 computers total i can use Remote Utilities for free in my shop.

Cons

So far there is no Mac support but the developer promises it will appear soon.

"Prior to install"

January 11, 2014  |  By IntelOps

 |  Version: Remote Utilities 5.5.3

Pros

I am always very wary of useful utilities like this that are offered under the 'free' tag. A lot of companies make a good living out of RAS products like this so my curiosity/cynicism makes me think there is another agenda here.

Cons

I'll be using wireshark on this installation and if I see ANY dubious network activity I'll let you guys know.

Cons

There is no way to share the portion of the screen or the single Window of the application.

"Fast, Easy and Reliable Remote Support Software."

June 18, 2011  |  By stanaics

 |  Version: Remote Utilities (RUT) 5.0

Pros

The software is very easy to deploy and use. The connections are very reliable and fast. Connecting is a breeze with the internet ID feature.

Cons

I would like to see remote printing support added.

Summary

I was looking for a remote desktop solution to use for my clients. I needed a solution that would be easy to install and configure remotely. I came across remote utilities 5.0 and decided to give it a try. I have to say RUT exceeded my expectations. I was able to configure an install file for my clients, that contained all the parameters to login to my clients computers , all my client needed to do was generate and supply the internet ID, which we achieved over the phone. I created a profile for that particular machine on the viewer and was ready to connect. To date I use RUT 5.0 to assist end users with minor issues and complete complex tasks taking several hours. I am very pleased with the programs performance and stability. One feature I would like to see is the ability to print to my printer from the remote machine. I have been told that this feature will eventually be added in future updates. At present I own one helpdesk channel and plan to add a second. RUT 5.0 is definitely worth a look if you provide remote computer support services.
