RegToy is designed for WindowsXP, is used to tweak, plus other utilities such as Registry Cleaner, File Renamer, Shutdown Scheduler, and several shell extensions ( add functions to windows explorer ). RegToy includes about > 300 ( only ) hidden settings, and some tweaks which you won't find in other tweaking programs, you can save and load setting backup in XML format. Version 0.4.4 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

This power-packed application tweaks your Registry to optimize computer performance, but novices sholdn't expect much hand-holding. RegToy has a pretty nested-button-and-tab interface, which may put off some because it doesn't follow XP standards. Options are primarily of the enable/disable variety, and most changes take effect immediately.

Though the tweak options are carefully labeled, users must know the consequences of altering them, as the few onscreen notes don't provide adequate assistance. You can restore the Registry settings to the Windows default, but that's an emergency final resort, as it will undo many changes made by you and some other programs. RegToy also includes a poorly explained feature for saving and loading settings. Other features include nifty utilities such as a file renamer, a file shredder, a start-up manager, an uninstall manager, and a disk cleaner for removing unnecessary files.

You also get a Registry cleaner for removing invalid Registry entries. It's very rare to find such a powerful and free tweaking application. Intermediate to advanced users will quickly make RegToy an integral part of their toolboxes.

  "excellent utility especially for the advanced user"

  Pros: but the intermediate like me can use it as well, and it works WELL.....the registry cleaner is awesome. I run CCleaner, then Reg Toy registry cleaner, along with my subscription to AVG Internet Suite and this computer is running smooth. Putting the memory clear in your task bar keeps you informed of memory usage and you can clear it out along with cache,also has 'trim workset' function. Use the startup manager to keep unwanted programs from starting up with your windows....

  Cons: It's complicated but still usable for someone not a genius like me. I'm sure some 'non genius' people can also use it fully cause they took the time to learn it. Ok, I will soon, hehe.
