Recuva is a free file recovery program that makes it extremely easy to locate files that were once thought to be lost forever. The wizard-like approach and intuitive user interface will appeal to all user levels.
The program opens with a very sleek, professional user interface. We found it extremely easy to navigate right off the bat, but it does employ a wizard to walk you through the file recovery process. All we had to do was select either the C or D drive, or both, from a drop-down menu. If you have a general idea of where the file may be, you can pick from a list of file paths, including Pictures, Music, Documents, Video, and Compressed files. As soon as we clicked the Scan button, the program immediately went to work, and within seconds, it had pulled up a very long list of deleted files and their respective paths. The program's Advanced view gave us more detailed information of each file, including the file's size and creation time. Recovering selected files was also extremely easy and involved simply checking off the file or files and clicking the Recover button. Within seconds, the file was recovered and saved to our location of choice.
Though we don't think you'll need it, we were disappointed to find that the program doesn't include any kind of Help file. It does, however, include a link to the publisher's Web site, which contains a forum. All in all, Recuva is an excellent choice for anyone in need of reliable file recovery.

This program saved my skin, group project is due in media tomorrow they gave me one job, complete the claymation. I went to move it onto an SD card and somehow managed to delete it. Enter panic mode I have three other guys in my group if the claymation wasn't there we all have to stay back at school when everyone else goes to the movies, no extensions no exceptions (one of my group members was in a car accident still no exceptions)
Anyway who ever is responsible for this program thankyou so much I really cant say how grateful I am. -

OK..So today is Fathers day and I made a BEAUTIFUL video of my 4yr old son with his dad on my camera.. of course my son wanted to see it so I let him watch the video.. I turned my back for a minute.. n he tapped my leg saying it wasn't working anymore.. I looked on the camera and it was GONE!!! He deleted it.. I was heartbroken.. After I stopped crying n feeling sorry for myself.. I went into problem solving mode. I came across the pandora recovery software first but it didn't work for video.. so I tried this one and IT WORKED!!! It recovered my 3GP video file.. I was SO HAPPY AND GRATEFUL that I donated to the company.. They're giving this MIRACLE away for free so donating was the least I could do. THANK YOU PIRIFORM!!

After six hours creating a huge powerpoint project with audio, I deleted the *old* file from my USB drive (at 11:30 pm) only to discover that it was the file I had been working with....aughhhh! Recuva restored the file perfectly and now I can go to bed instead of spending hours rebuilding it from scratch. Thank you, thank you, thank you Recuva, and goodnight!

I deleted all the files off my camera's memory thinking I backed it up. well I didn't!!. Recuva was able to get the MAJORITY of the pictures back. - lesson learned. thanks recuva!!

For someone who is not computer savvy, the program may appear a little cumbersome.
It does bring back multiple copies of the file if you've made changes, so you need to be careful to restore which version you need. -

Summary
I used this on an SDHC card where the erased files had not been moved to the recycle bin on the card or on the computer. I was afraid that I had erased files that had not yet been transferred. Recuva's initial screen showed that the erased files were ones I had transferred, and put my mind at ease. There was no need to actually recover the files, so my rating is based on the installation, user interface, and ability to get the information from the SDHC card when there were no other options. I can hardly wait until I have a real problem! (~)
