This clear-cut utility lets you restore lost files without bothering with disk-system details. Using Recover My Files' convenient interface, you will have no difficulty sorting files and choosing multiple items to recover. The program supports most common graphic, document, archive, e-mail, database, and financial file types, as well as others, such as MP3s. The Preview window displays text, images, and MS Office files, as well as archive contents. Recover My Files searches for just-deleted files or files stripped of their Windows-file reference information. You can focus your search on particular file types and cut search time with special options, such as starting with a specific sector, skipping to the ends of found files, or searching disk sectors instead of clusters. Unfortunately, the program doesn't estimate time remaining in an ongoing job. It does, however, offer built-in CD- and DVD-burning support, and you can run it from a floppy disk or a CD without touching the hard drive. Though it's difficult to fully assess Recover My Files' capabilities, as the demo disables saving, it seems like a solid choice for nonprofessionals.Publisher's description

Version: Recover My Files Data Recovery 3.98
Pros: This is the easiest to use out of all the data recovery programs I have tried. It recovered a deleted partition after a new installation of Windows. Contrary to some negative posts here, the program was capable of finding any file type with full file and folder names. As I understand it, this program can recover any file but has specific support for over 300 individual types. It caters well for those who don't have much knowledge about data recovery and just want a quick click solution to get their data back - but once you get into options it pretty much lets you configure any type of search you want - even if it is just for one specific file type which is very handy when you have just lost a few documents or photos. It also has the best preview of recovered files of any data recovery program I have tried.

Pros: Application did find my missing files (which I'd forgotten to copy before I reinstalled windows)
Cons: Couldn't recover the files without buying a license - not a free trial

"Limited - can't file files in doesn't know the extension to"
Cons: I tried to search for some deleted RAW camera files. This program doesn't know what RAW is and therefore can't find them.
