This clear-cut utility lets you restore lost files without bothering you with disk-system details. Using its convenient interface, you will have no difficulty sorting files and choosing multiple items to recover. What's more, the program displays text, images, and MS Office files, as well as contents of archives, in the Preview window. The utility searches for just-deleted files or files stripped of their Windows-file reference information. The program supports most common graphic, document, archive, e-mail, database, and financial file types, as well as others such as MP3s. To focus your search, you can choose to seek only some file types. Search time also can be cut with special options, such as starting with a specific sector, skipping to the ends of found files, or searching disk sectors instead of clusters. The program also offers built-in CD- and DVD-burning support. Unfortunately, it doesn't estimate time remaining in an ongoing job. If you need to, you may execute the utility from a floppy disk or a CD without touching the hard drive. Though it's difficult to fully estimate the capacity of the tool, as saving is disabled, Recover My Files could be a solid choice for nonprofessionals.Publisher's description

Version: Recover My Files Data Recovery 3.95
"Worked for me, does what it says."
Pros: It scanned my damaged hard drive on my laptop and allowed me to recover my files to an external 160GB USB drive. You can also use Recover My Files with BartPE to create a bootable windows environment running entirely from CD and do recovery on your hard drive from there. Scanning time was decent, but remember it can take a while with any recovery program to scan your drive (especially if your drive has errors or is damaged). One thing you have to realize is that no software is perfect, nor does any software perform miracles. One last thing, "No program is any better than the person using it."
Cons: One thing that stinks is having to type the loooong serial number. Other than that? No complaints so far.

Version: Recover My Files Data Recovery 3.95
Pros: Recovered my formatted hard drive with no problems. Got back the whole file and folder structure. The preview is great - could see my files so the decision to purchase a registration key was easy. I like the way you can also search for individual file types, plus you can burn the results directly to CD or DVD.

"They don't readily give refund when the program doesn't work"
Cons: Even though the publisher gives a so called 30 day guarantee, they don't want to really honor that guarantee. It's been over a week since Ive been asking for a refund, and they just keep on dragging it giving lousy reasons.
They just want your money even when their program doesnt recover files properly and creates corrupted files.
