This clear-cut utility lets you restore lost files without bothering you with disk-system details. Using its convenient interface, you will have no difficulty sorting files and choosing multiple items to recover. What's more, the program displays text, images, and MS Office files, as well as contents of archives, in the Preview window. The utility searches for just-deleted files or files stripped of their Windows-file reference information. The program supports most common graphic, document, archive, e-mail, database, and financial file types, as well as others such as MP3s. To focus your search, you can choose to seek only some file types. Search time also can be cut with special options, such as starting with a specific sector, skipping to the ends of found files, or searching disk sectors instead of clusters. The program also offers built-in CD- and DVD-burning support. Unfortunately, it doesn't estimate time remaining in an ongoing job. If you need to, you may execute the utility from a floppy disk or a CD without touching the hard drive. Though it's difficult to fully estimate the capacity of the tool, as saving is disabled, Recover My Files could be a solid choice for nonprofessionals.

Version: Recover My Files Data Recovery 3.94

"Has the capability to fufill many users' expectations."

by coolbreezeworld on March 29, 2006

Pros: > I remember that this was the first product that came to my mind when I accidentally deleted some of my music files. Actually this was the second time I downloaded this product. The first time, when I downloaded and tested the product, it didn't impress me much, but the second time was more informative. Let us see....

    > Sharp and yet not flashy. It does set the tone for being a serious program.

    > It has numerous extensions, from which you can specify the necessary extension and it will have two '+' menus, one being the extension specified and the other - a collection of all the other extensions. This does make the whole task easier, better than shifting through numerous files.

    > It found many files, some which were useful and others hardly useful. A point to be noted that it can give a preview of a selected file, but this is for only for image files.

    > It informs the user on how easy or how difficult it is to recover the file or files

selected. This is good, because it gives an idea on how tough or easy it is to recover the files selected.

    > It can even recover files lost by formatting and from many hard disk formats, but the files recovered by formatting were very tough to recover, and not many results came up.

    > It offers different modes of searching, such as Quick search or In Depth search for deletions etc. I went for a Quick Search at first, and was impressed that it found 4 of my deleted files, but the In-Depth search never returned those final 2 files. Now....

Cons: > First of all, time plays a very important role in the usage of the program. The faster you run the program, the higher are your chances of recovering all the files deleted. For me, I was able to find only 4 of the total 6 mp3 deleted.

    > Quick Search is much better than In-Depth Search, as the latter takes up more time, but never returns all the files as required. Also the search times are very long and lenghty, which is also a negative in this age of speed

    > The price factor. Uhuhuh. Sample this. A program which doesn't return all the files needed and a sum of nearly $70! Do I need to elaborate further?

    > One more thing. I had to specify the recovery path to my nearly full drive of D. The program wouldn't allow me to recover them to C drive or my main drive.

I also agree with cyberbum's liner about the file extension problem he encountered.

Version: Recover My Files Data Recovery 3.94

"You have higher chance if use this immediately after data lost"

by LemonPie on March 22, 2006

Pros: I have 44 photos remove from my hard drive by a slideshow program and I did not aware of it, I'm not sure are they move to recycle bin or somewhere else but I have another program that will empty my recycle bin daily while window shut down. When I knew I lost my photos, that is 2 days after . I search download.com and found this product , although I did not use this kind of program before & have no idea how it work but I still try it.

On the first scan , I use "Fast File Search" but did not found my lost photos , then I try "Fast Format Recover", then it found me 30 photos . The file filter display the only files type (*.jpg) I want then I can view the image from the preview window and found what I want easily (but where is the other 14photos ?) .

I did not pay for recover and try to find some free program but I have not luck . The worst thing is I did not mark down the files name (the file names has been changed to some numbers but not the original file name) and I did not save the scan result before closing the program. After trying some other programs no matter freeware or shareware , I can found only 1 file back so I come back to this one again . Too bad I can't find them anymore. Even though I use "Complete Format Recover" and scan 21hours, only 40% finished , take another 3 hours to analyze but not one of my photo there.

Compare with others data recovery program, I like the image preview of this one , it also contains file location path eg. C:\Lost Files\ , original width with height (so you knew this is not a thumbnail size image) , file size etc. Most data recovery program have NO image preview , how can you find your image files if the original file name has been changed? This program is easy to use . So worth to try it especially for image recover.

Cons: What I feel not satisfy-

    1. Why NOT all 44 photos found but only 30 ? They are in same photo folder & lost in same day by same program !

    2. Quite expensive .

    3. Hope it will provide small file recover ?!

    4. Installing progress did not suggest program should be install in a different drive than the one need to be recover , is this the main reason can't find all lost data ?

Version: Recover My Files Data Recovery 3.94

"Could not specify file extension needed."

by cyberbum on March 9, 2006

Pros: Graphics well done, sharp and attractive.

Cons: Unable to specify file extension needed to recover. Graphical selection boxes for common file extensions. Could see no quick method for specifiying file extension. Therefore this is of limited value to developers.
